I have to say the pictures are so clear that I am salivating for a nice smooth straight razor shave! haha this is a fun thread to check out Ols67, is the Jasper still treating you well?
Zac,
The Jasper is wonderful, and my favorite. However, since my technique has gotten better, and I figured out/learned a few tricks I am trying some of my other finishers.
I was reading that a lot of guys like using the CF with WD40, so that was what I tried with my vintage Wacker shown above. I will shave test it today! It blew the HHT away all along the cutting edge, and the bevel near the edge looks sick under the 30x loupe! I will report back!

Well I used the vintage three pin Wacker supposedly made out of Sheffield Steel this afternoon after having finished it on the Charnley Forrest with WD40 yesterday. The resultant edge was sublime, and it certainly felt better than the other Wacker I finished off of the Charnley with water and a drop of liquid soap...as in WAY better!
The spike point on this Wacker almost caught me...happily I was using a very light touch and paying attention!

Well...the Charnley Forrest finisher did such a great job, I went to the drawer of cast always and pulled this out. I acquired this Wacker 6/8 Jungmeister in a two lot deal. The other 6/8 Jungmeister had dark brown/black scales which I prefer, and it is a SWEET shaver that never lets me down!
This one however, had some weird geometry issues, especially at the heel. It wasn’t the razor’s fault that someone made it funky...so today I tried to remedy the geometry, and finished it on the CF. It nailed the HHT, and I think I smoothed it out at the heel to the point where it will not affect the shave. I will find out later today or tomorrow.
