We had a similar thread regarding value soaps, why not razors?
I like some of the high end razors that I have been fortunate enough to pick up but I have to say: I get a GREAT deal of pleasure out of using a $19 razor to get a fantastic shave.
Vintage notwithstanding, what are your top 5 value razors and why?
Several of mine in no particular order:
1. Parker 87r: $29 this TTO is a very solid, medium aggressive razor featuring all brass construction. It has an Aristocrat styling with a very comfortable handle.
2. Razorock Jaws [Bamboozled Rake and Maggard's V2, etc.]: $20 this OC is a great entre into OC shaving. Very comfortable, solid quality it is a Parker head with a very nice brass handle. Super fun razor to use with solid quality, even if a zamak head.
3. Razorock Mentor [Maggard V3a, etc.]: $20 along with a SS handle. Nice heft, a bit more aggressive with decent blade gap and exposure, this razor is very effective.
4. Razorock Classic TTO: $20 fairly aggressive, similar to Parker 99r with different knurling. Great shaver on a shoestring budget and my choice to give away in "starter kits" for friends currently.
5. Fatip Grande: $24 and another aggressive shaver. I love this razor! It is a little rough around the edges on the finish but delivers the goods- looks tough as much as a razor can. The Gentile [$33] is the Fatip SB version which is also solid but I do prefer the OC personally.
It's a great time to be in wetshaving with so many options readily available and fantastic values to be found across both HW and SW.
