Hello!

I'm a huge fan of the Weck Sextoblades, and I've been trying to acquire a Weck surgical prep razor. It uses the same blade, but in an open comb SE format. Is it just me, or are these things ridiculously hard to find? Is someone hoarding them? I vaguely recall seeing a couple as surplus surgical instruments in the very early '90s, and a few long-expired Ebay listings.

For an example, see here: https://damnfineshave.com/thread-weck-surgical-prep

Took me almost 3 years to find mine (and found it on the bay by pure chance from England - I was the only bidder). Something about those surgical prep razors makes them so damn efficient and smooth - pure function over form. Another great surgical prep razor that's hard to find is the Olaf Rasmussen double edge (took me almost 4 years to find this one). Both razors are as ugly as sin, but man do they shave well, out-shaving most of my other razors by far.

Yeah, I am absolutely in love with the orderly prep razor, which is just Weck's straight razor, but sterilizable. I want to try the Milady though. Here's hoping I find one! What blades do you prefer?

I have really good shaves with my Weck with both the Personna and Diane hair shaper blades.

I concur on the Personna. I don't like Fromm as much. May I ask how many shaves you get per blade? I think my current blade is at ... roughly five shaves.

I've got a personal OCD blade change routine where I use a blade for 7 days - no more, no less. I get 7 excellent 2 pass shaves (XTG and ATG) with both blades.

Oh, that sounds like a nice idea! Seven shaves is higher than I thought, but quite decent. Planning on procuring the Personna Med Prep version of the blade soon.
