On Gillette US made 3pc Tech razors they changed the lather slots from triangular to a rectangular style. They also changed the shave geometry. Both are on the mild side but different enough that there is distinct shave difference and as such some users prefer one over the other. Leaving out the ones made for the military during WWII, pre war refers to those made before WWII and up to 1947 and post war ones made 1947 and up.
The are still a dime a dozen to this day, pre or post war Tech razors and can be found often in antique aka junk shops for as cheap or cheaper than you'll find them on ebay.

Most people don't know this but Gillette still sells a 3pc Tech style DE razor just not in the US market, the razor is called a Gillette 7 O'clock Sterling. They can be found still on ebay for under $10 with shipping from India.

I have an under-the-radar razor to recommend: Phoenix Artisan Accountrements’s Meta 4 razor. Dumb name, but a really nice razor. Mild-to-medium aggressive, perfect for two days’ growth. Milled from 316 L stainless steel and moderately priced. As a bonus, it has a really cool handle that is modeled after the old Gillette Red Tip handle.

I thought it was '38 ~ '45, but that's not really important. I have pre-war, post-war, and the later zamak cap crapper from the '60s, and the pre-war is the hands down better shaver for me. I have four pre-wars, three are US made and one is Canadian, all fantastic shavers.

The post-war actually has better blade support, and some people prefer that version for that reason, but it just doesn't work for me.






Same thing with New, the short comb New has better blade support than the long comb New, but I love my long comb, one of those YMMV things.

Sales record says otherwise on the 45 date. We now know for sure at least during 46 they were selling excess war production contract tech razors to the civilian market with no new razor production on the 3pc techs until sometime 47 which coincides with the post war tech design first showing up for civilian use.

I'd also add if on a budget Chinese made Yaqi razors have a bunch of options in the mild spectrum.

I believe Yaqi and DS Cosmetic make a few razors, all pretty cheap. Which ones stand out to you as a good, smooth shave BBS ?

Best mild razor I've used is from the Aristocrat #16 or #22 set...Pat No 430 030 inscribed underside of base.
The Pat No is a must or it's a no-go.

None really but then again I don't prefer or use mild razors in the main. The Yaqi ones I owned were Razorock rebrands and if they were exceptional in any way I would have kept them. Only reason I never ordered from Yaqi directly is because at the time they were only on aliexpress and that site is an absolute cluster f to navigate or do business. When a website is that convoluted I am not going to go out of my way to business with the vendors using it unless they have a direct sales option which they didn't then but do now.
