I never really cared for the Gillettes except for a 1941 Ranger Tech I picked up. Others love them, but they never worked for me. I've found the vintage French and German razors do a better job for me. So, more choices.

A razor sometimes overlooked is the Schick Krona. Plentiful and inexpensive, they give a great shave in many peoples minds. You should try one.

Have fun.

This is what I was thinking. I have a Gillette NEW RFB(Raised Flat Bottom) that was made in England in the mid 1930's. It is in a No.44 set. This is one of my favorite razors. Just smooth and very efficient. Most of the made in England Gillettes seem to go for more money due to being so sought after, I think. The NEW RFB I found is worth every penny I paid for it.

The U.S. made NEW's, either Long Comb or Short Comb are very good shavers in my mind also. Gillette NEW Improved razors are nice, too, but seem to have a little more blade feel to them.

OK, I really enjoy them all, pretty much. As has been suggested in previous posts by others, just try some of them out and see what you think for yourself. User grade with plating loss may not be as pretty, but will most likely still work and give you an idea how they shave. And, later on you can have things cleaned up or replated if you want to do that.

Also, the Schicks and Gems(& many others) can be great shavers too. There's a lot of choices out there and can be quite the rabbit hole to fall down. Oh, how well I know. Blush

Shaven in the Past
All the razors you mentioned are fine shavers. Only one way to find out is just get one. If you don't like mild stay away from the Super Speed and Tech.
