Varlet is moving to Order Form

I'm not sure why you keep fighting this so hard...

At the end of the day, it's Aldo's business and his decision as to what he prices his brushes at..

I'm not sure if I have ever used any language in my post that suggests fighting.
As you can see from varlets posts below he welcomes discussion as long as it is civil.
Have I overstepped those boundaries? Let him put any price on them....I am raising a question
about these being heirloom pieces and being passed down through generations.

Also, and this is me being pedantic, but the price of a brush starts at $485...is this considered "low to mid $400s"?
That's not what I've learned about rounding off numbers.

First of all, I would like to say that any discussion and opinion about my business is ok with me...

I don't want to compare my brushes to other brushes, or even razors, but it does beg the question, if there are vintage English brushes out there still being lathered, why question the longevity of badger brushes? I've been told by many customers that my brushes will be handed down to their sons when the time comes, and that is just the greatest thing to know. It's why I build them like I do, with the materials that I do. It's why I engrave them too. But, just a word, care for your brushes! They really need proper care.

I have adjusted the prices of the brushes by about 8%. This puts most builds in the low to mid $400's, which I honestly feel is very fair for what is delivered.

Maybe the perception that you’re fighting comes from the fact that you continually bring up the same points?

Actually there are three 425$ options.

But still this exceeds my upper limit for a brush by a lot.

Call me names, but I got into real wet shaving after synthetics got usable. 425$ gets me 20+ brushes with synthetic bristles.

All with soft tips. And none are lather hogs.

I'm probably missing out on the really luxury shaves, but as i do not know any better i really enjoy what i have.

Yea...those are the 25mm models...I was referring to the 28-29mm spec, I suppose.

I’m still holding out hope that Aldo makes a “Tudor” for those of us unwilling to go “Rolex”.

Man I knew I’d read something like this before. Aldo posted this on another forum back in March of 2017. I hope he can resurrect this idea and make it work again.

“ I am launching a new brand of brushes called Everset. This is a project which I've had in mind for some time and was compelled recently to put it out. I've considered splitting The Varlet off into two different lines. The Varlet is a line of brushes with one major philosophy, which is uncompromising quality and design. Many details and decisions are geared towards that goal, which can produce amazing results but not in a very timely manner, especially since I have been at this craft for less than 2 years.

I wanted to have a line of brushes with a different focus. The focus is not to compromise on quality or design but incorporating both efficiency and quality while offering new and attractive designs. The branding is inspired by 50's era pinstripe letters which goes hand in hand with the name Everset, which is a nod to American brands from the early to mid 20th century.

The handle designs will draw from American and British classics with a modern twist, and there will be some entirely new designs to come. The design element that ties the brand together is the ultra thin groove. This groove replaces the bead in most classic handle designs, giving the handles a modern look while being easy to repeatably machine. Special tooling, however, had to be made to be able to carve a thin groove like this so deeply with such clean results. Another cool thing that the groove achieves is giving the handle the look of being two separate pieces floating on top of each other from certain angles; also, very avant-garde.

Production for the Everset brushes will be much higher than The Varlet. The goal is to offer a great quality brush that looks awesome to as many guys that want one. It will take some time to do that I think but that is the goal. The Varlet's philosophy is definitely not that. It would be nice to be able to achieve that with The Varlet, but I sincerely don't think it will be possible based on where I want to take the brand and the ideas I have with regards to construction, materials, design, etc. So it is necessary right now to offer two different lines, and so Everset is born.

All Everset brushes will feature Finest Grade knots, all knots on The Varlet brushes will feature the Alpine Grade from now on. Polishing grade on Everset brushes is exceptional, but The Varlet brushes will still feature a higher grade polish and details. The same attention to construction will be applied to both brands in regards to lack of glue bumps, knot quality, excessive adhesive, etc. Everset brushes will be priced more competitively than similar offerings from The Varlet.

The brushes are as follows:

R2 - 24mm knot, set at loft of 48. Basically this is a Varlet Beehive knot set 2mm lower. This is the specs I did for a few guys that wanted an extra dense Ranger, and I had very nice feedback on that spec knot so I'm offering it here with the R2. The handle is inspired by the Ever-Ready pictured alongside it. Offered in Ivory Slate and Carbon. $150

U-2 - Named after the spy plane that is also nicknamed "Dragon Lady". 25mm x 48 loft. It is the same knot specs as the Orion. The handle is about 57mm tall. Inspired by several Rubber-Set models. $170

K2 - Named after the second highest peak in the world. Same knot as the Mega. Handle is about 52mm tall. Chubby inspired. $200”
