I agree. Can we please get back to discussing why it's OK for a purchaser to mark up an item $150 on resale market, but it's not ok for an artisan to raise their price $150?

You guys get your panties in a wad over nothing. To the point you drag it around to every brush thread you can find. Quite humorous.
It took me a minute to determine if you were referring g to his own abominations, or the customs where he attempts to directly rips off another artisan’s work.
I figured once the Scott-bot siren got sounded, you'd come out from under your rock to run your mouth too. You guys are so predictable. Never anything good to add to a conversation because your nose is so far up Scott's ass.

I've no idea what your post means but if you'll just go away I'll simply tell you "you're right".

So..take the other trash out with you and piss off, no?

I don’t think you are gud at werds. No one has said it’s not ok. People can do what they will.

I wouldn’t buy a secondary market brush for 600 and I won’t buy a new one for 600.

So what’s your beef aside from just wanting to stir shit up?

You don’t like it, don’t buy it. It’s not mandatory.

Next question.

Honestly it is simple economics my lad. The cost of the mark up on any item is due to supply and demand so it is more then the cost of the sum of it's part. Now that supply is essentially met with the means of an order form vs drop one now has to question how the demand would play out in the formula. Simply the demand is in fact there but unfortunately not at the price point he listed the brush at. He has sold the brush for years now at that price point and is what we are accustomed too. Had he increased it incrementally and properly explain the reason why we would be in a different situation.

Example being he raised the price by X amount due to trade issues with China and badger hair costing more now then 1-3 years ago. He increased the price by X so he could "slightly" lower the demand for his brushes and can now constantly bring them to market; hard to constantly keep up with high demand but I commend James from Wolfman on doing a decent job of it. Overall the economics of the matter just doesn't fit the situation. He tipped the favors to the side of the consumer while pricing himself out of the market. Had he raised his price to say $400 I doubt many would complain. But at $240 increase for no other value besides him wanting more money to make up for spending the same time making his handles and offering communication it is a tad bit absurd.

I am all for him making more money whilst offering an expanded supply and communication chain but he did not overshoot the pricing by a little bit. Honestly he should of just conducted a survey to see how willing people would be on buying his brushes at varying price point. Instead he took a shot in the dark and the accuracy of such was horrendous.

Actually, I have no issue whatsoever if the maker wants to charge what he thinks is a fair price for his time. It's just very humorous to me that many of the same people who defend their right to resell goods over MSRP on the secondary market freak out when an artisan raises his prices, and likely knows he can get it due to those secondary market prices.

I agree that the maker has every right to charge whatever he wants. I think the complaints are due to how far above current secondary market prices the brushes are now. The last few 27mm Gaslamps sold (of which I am aware) went for around $325. The same brush now retails for over $500 if you factor in shipping and sales tax (for people in CA).

Yes, I just realized the increase is ~$250 not ~$150, my error. There have been a ton of WTT Varlet for Wolfman, though. Not really knowing if those trades go through, I suspect that's where the ~$500 number comes from.
