What makes the BBS-1 so sought after? I am aware that Wolfman razors have a great quality and have every reason to believe the hype but from reading through DFS and other shave sites it seems as though the BBS-1 is one of the most sought after shave related items? Why?

As a bit of background, I have now been wet shaving for almost 7 years. I've acquired any number of great products in this hobby. I've tried all sorts of razors and even remember when the Joris razor was the must have followed by any number of other razors (Cobra, Mongoose, etc). So is the BBS-1 just hype? Sought after as a collectible? Frankly, the acquisition cost from LASS is a lot, but the amount folks are willing to spend to purchase or "trade" for it on the secondary market seems, frankly, obscene.

Full disclosure - I had forgotten that I was on the waitlist for a BBS-1 and recently acquired one (no, it's not for sale or trade) from said waitlist but given the buzz am too afraid to use it!

I would guess the reason that it is sought after is lack of availability. Why would you be afraid to use it?

If you were planning to put it up for sale claiming unused to obtain a better price I can understand, but as stated you mentioned it's not for sale or trade.

It's because Wolfman razors are already relatively difficult to find. Plus the BBS-1 head is only available through LASSCo. So it's sort of a double whammy of rarity.

I had a Wolfman a while back and it's a great razor. I would definitely recommend at least trying it out before you sell it. You're not likely to lose money on it even as a used razor.

Exactly.

I actually like the BBS-1 better than my Wolfman razors. The design is more unique and it shaves wonderfully.

In my mind, the reasons I have read about (since I don’t have a BBS-1, nor have I tried one) are as follows:

1) Difficult to find/purchase. (People seem to like rare items.)
2) Fit, finish, and (arguably) design are the best in the business.
3) Very good if not absolutely fantastic (depending on who you ask) at what it was manufactured for — shaving.

If I were you, I would definitely use the BBS-1 for a while and see if you agree with the last point. If not, you will have no trouble selling it.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Sorry, sarcasm is hard to relay on message boards.  I'm not really afraid of using it and given the hype am expecting tiny shave fairies coming out of the razor to give be a perfect shave!

I suppose I thought it was something more than that...I certainly will give it a try soon!  I've been rushed of late and relying on my One Blade...making me a lazy shaver...

I'd say try it and decide where or not you feel its worth it.

So, the BBS-1 doesn't vary from other LE/Hard to Find/Unobtanium items - all hype with a large dose of incredible performance!

Good to know.  Look forward to testing it out.  The blade gap is somewhat concerning - much wider then what I am used to.

Thanks...now I need to shave with it!

I'm at a gun show where the late bill Jordan is signing his book NO SECOND PLACE WINNER; said title a must have along with Ed McGivern's FAST AND FANCY REVOLVER SHOOTING for wheelgun users. This guy walks up with a NIB five screw, 2 digit Model 19 Smith and Wesson .357 mag. This is the revolver he collaborated with S&W to
produce the then state of the art service revolver.
He's all excited explaining his father bought it and it had never been taken out and remained unfired and 'oh wow, how much do you think somebody will pay for it someday?'
Jordan looks at him and says 'why are you curating a gun for some stranger's future pleasure?' While picking it up and dry firing with his legendary speed and handing it to him with a newly scribed cylinder ring. THERE, you can tell people I broke it in for ya, no charge.
Shave with it already.

The BBS-1 is an incredible razor. The only thing that isn't great in my opinion is it doesn't pair and accept with very many blades. I seem to only enjoy it thoroughly with Voskhods. If you are a patient person and/or have the money that the inflated price reflects on the bay, then I hope if you get it that the razor works as well for you as it does for me.

I don't think I would ever sell it.

daverasi Congratulations! I hope you enjoy the BBS-1. I wouldn't worry too much about the blade gap-even though it's a whopping 1 mm, it doesn't shave like that because of the curvature of the head and the way the blade sits.

But seriously, life is short, enjoy your razor!
