It's a shave from a year ago but there you go. Let me know if you have any questions.

That was SO helpful to see that - thank you for posting it. You used MUCH more lather brushed over your face for MUCH longer than I've been doing - for 40+ years with cartridges I've been stopping essentially after your first pass, with maybe some non-soap touch up here and there. It's a commitment to shave your whole face 2 or 3 times each shave - and with 2 different razors :-)
I'll try to replicate your lathering - that looks like it'll absolutely be helpful. Then we'll see if I can be zen enough to commit the extra time to the extra passes.
Thanks again - really so helpful!

Ian, a couple notes on lathering. One, part of the reason I can lather so long is that I normally am using 3 band badger knots that have moderate density. This means there are generally soft brushes so I get the facial exfoliation moreso due to time lathering on the face rather using a dense, backboney brush. The other reason you see it taking long to develop into the final, wet coat is that the specific soap requires a LOT of water.

Many people including myself will recommend the "beard reduction" which means to progressively remove your beard bit at a time for each pass. The idea I have is to avoid razor burn by not doing a 3 pass shave and to maintain the right angle with whatever razor I am using. My skin will get nicks shaving like this but they only really last during the shave. So nicks or a cut are fine or expected by me. But in the end, I don't want razor burn as that is much less comfortable.

Again, keep us updated in the threads as to how your shaves are going. Glad I could help! Cheers

I think I've only ever done this 1x and it was because the razor was way too aggressive for me. I had to stop using the GEM MMOC and switch to a more mild shaver a few years back.

Thanks - I spent more time in yesterday's shave developing a lather than I had before - 2 passes, and very smooth ... I really appreciate being able to learn from this forum!
