all fairly good ideas.

integrated media storage - do you mean like having your own attachment space?  if we did this, as you mentioned, it would come at a cost. we'd probably allow for that at some smaller number (let's say 25mb) and then offer more if people were to subscribe for a yearly fee or something along those lines.

I can definitely say that I won't be supporting more than 1 theme.  it's just too tedious and time consuming.  there will be a dark version of the theme we'll be using, iirc.

tagging system  - I do believe flarum natively supports tagging and hashtags.

Thanks for the follow up. Regarding storage, Yes. Something along that line. There could be some interesting companions to that but probably not ultra important. And glad you brought up memberships. I intended to mention that as well. I think that would be a nice addition as I suspect that many want to support the site costs and overheads.

Regarding themes. Maybe after you get everything up and stable you would be open to some support on that front? I scanned the docs and I would be happy to help with design concepts or implementation of that if desired (or even needed). Looks like a fairly standard model of either simple and limited direct changes with js and less+css or a full on extension model with the same stack + ts +mithril (which I am guessing is less relevant for simpler UI centric themes). There also seems to be some community maintained theme extensions as well.

A more fully featured search function.    Something along the lines of a pared down, demystified regular expression search  - one which requires only knowledge of plain English.  I'm thinking of the ability to make queries like ...  BY HighSpeed, "Schick" OR "Eversharp", "Type G" OR "Type I", NOT "For Sale" OR "For Trade".  I don't know that you will find functionality like that for forum use, but any step up in the search functionality would be appreciated.

Greatly appreciate all of the work that you do to maintain this great site, Andrew.
Hope the change is easier on you, and updated emojis will be very welcomed.  Smile (this is for you, Shane)  Big Grin

what would make it easier?

on our current system, the photos are automatically resized based on the screen size after they're uploaded to imgur.

I believe the new system will allow you to upload more than 1 photo at a time (probably to imgur again).

Some sites have an icon, you click that opens a file browser, you pick the file and click a button and you are done. Once uploaded, you can choose to make it a thumbnail or full image.

I have had issues on DFS where imgur would not work for me. Some days it works, some days it doesn't. Some days, I just get a broken link icon after uploading a picture (I just tried right now). Maybe it is my browser settings that don't play nice with imgur. Most of the time I don't even try to upload photos to DFS.

In the past when I was able to get the image imported into a post, I would need to go to the code and enter HTML to scale the image (following some of the posts in the help forum). That was cumbersome.

I have seen one once but I can't find that function.

I am also a fan of "down votes" or "dislikes".  It makes disagreeing more gentlemanly.

you can currently create a poll if you're the thread starter. if you click 'extra post options' at the bottom of a new thread, it'll give you an option to start a poll, like so:

once you hit 'post reply' after checking that option to start a poll, I believe it'll then allow you to set up your poll.
