Toothbrush for cleaning safety razor

I noticed that people use a toothbrush to clean a safety razor. I use it about twice a week after replacing my blade. I clean my safety razor with the toothbrush and toothpaste. Is this a good method of cleaning the razor? How long will the toothbrush last? How do I know when to replace it?

Alex, as long as the toothpaste is not overly abrasive that is a fine way to clean a razor. As for the toothbrush itself, get a new one when you notice the bristles are worn, just as you would for your teeth. A toothbrush used for razor cleaning should last a lot longer. I use a toothbrush and liquid soap... same idea.

I am interested to try Scrubbing Bubbles as I've heard good things about that.

Scrubbing Bubbles is surprisingly effective on built up scum. Spray it on, let it sit for about ten minutes, rub it off. I use a toothbrush for this method, too.

I use a toothbrush daily. But when I am cleaning my collection or just got a new razor in...Dishwasher!

I for one would never take a chance putting any razor in the dishwasher....water gets too hot for my liking.

Your free toothbrush from the dentist visit will work just fine and last years cleaning razors.

Water too hot? Razors are made of metal. Hot water does not hurt metal last time I checked.

A dish washer water is hotter then tap water. And I'm not talking about the metal, more the plating and fhe pressure washer type of spray it gives.

Stick them in if you want, but I won't be.
