The Timeless ALSB45 is no exception.
With its 48g for 100mm, 6061-T6 alloy is nice.

Long and consistent handle, but light and balanced.
The section is a bit wider than average, as in the classic house design.
Thanks to the efficient material, it is very handy.

The geometry of the head is quite square.
Unlike other models, it is not too bulky.
Even if it's not exactly a twig.
But still comfortable in use.

The gap is moderate, at 0.45mm.
But without a marked arch, therefore a good efficacy.
This, however, needs a small adjustment of the angle of use.
In fact, it's quite a technical razor, and it requires a learning curve.
So less intuitive than others, but still easy ... once you get it.

The performance is absolutely excellent.
Today with both razors the same perfect result.
Then it must be said that it has a manufacture worthy of its well-deserved fame.
Perfect matches, fine details, bewitching features.
All at a consistent price, given the brand.

But my champion PP1489 costs a fraction ...

Nice write-up! I too love a lighter razor. You have me intrigued: what is the PP1489?

Titanium is heavier than Aluminum and quite a bit sturdier too. Titanium is close to either Steel in strength, I believe.

As an example when I was talking to the folks at Henson, they said the Titanium is a forever razor, the Aluminum will probably last 10-20 years depending on upkeep.

Weight wise, the Henson razors as an example again: Aluminum is 1.3oz vs the Titanium being 2.26. They don't have a stainless steel razor, yet, but I'd imagine it would be similar to the Karve (which, I believe would be close to 4oz at that handle length?).

So, titanium is durable like steel, half the weight. Aluminum isn't as durable, but about 1/4 the weight of steel.

Another thing I never thought of until now: heat retention. If you use warm water, your steel (and probably titanium) would likely stay warm through the pass... Aluminum would cool down much much faster.

Hope that helps!

Purchased this razor on a whim and just to give Timeless Razors an extra add on sale as I was on their site about 3 weeks ago to purchase their new Crown Ti handle. They’ve always treated me well with my previous purchases from them with excellent customer service and shipping times. I already have their Stainless, Titanium & Brass versions so, I decided to complete the family tree of razors. I’ll keep it short and sweet and won’t go into every detail of make up and quality, just the shaves that I’ve had with it for the 8-10 days.

First things first, I’m not the biggest fan of Aluminum/Lightweight razors though, I do have a couple of them that perform quite well. Truthfully, I was just expecting to have some decent shaves with it and for it to perform equal and no more to the ones that I already own. And honestly, I was completely bamboozled by the Aluminums outright shave prowess and performance. I have put in 7 or 8 shaves with it and they have been nothing short of excellent. Surprisingly good efficiency with some blade feel and much smoother feeling than I ever expected. Shave 1 was really the only one that I had “an issue” and that was just a couple of weepers near the corners of my mouth but, I labeled that just a small learning curve and getting to know the razor. From that shave on every other shave was smooth, efficient and extremely comfortable. No nics, cuts or irritation to speak of with every shave a BBS finish or darn near close for 1 or 2 of them. But, what really got to me was the lightweight of the razor instinctively put me into “I might have to use a bit more pressure” to get the results that I wanted. Couldn’t have been further from the truth. Yes, there was a slight bit of pressure on my end but, nothing more than say I’d have used with a Gillette Twinjector or even my PAA Ascension Aluminum razor. I was surprised at the minimal effort that was needed to get good cutting action from the Timeless Aluminum. It was quite revealing and equally very satisfying on the shaving end of it.

This is a quality razor that shaves exceptionally well. To me not as smooth as the Timeless SS razor and not close to the Ti which is the best of the bunch for my tastes but, I think it shaved me better than the Bronze .38 SB variant which is not a bad razor either. I don’t think Timeless has a bad razor in their line up and the Aluminum creation definitely has its place in the Timeless collection.

I’m glad I have it and for $50 from their scratch & dent pile, it’s a hell of a bargain.....

The Timeless Aluminum is my only double edged razor, so I don’t have anything to compare it with. I will agree that the lighter the touch—the better. The only problem area I have, when shaving, is a 2.5” strip down the center of my throat where the hair grows in so many different directions that there really is no WTG/ATG/XTG. The Timeless with duller blades like Astra, Derby etc feels like it is pulling the hairs off of my throat. But with a Feather blade it is a nice clean cut. I have never cut myself with this razor and weepers are minor, few, and far in between. So, I would have to say, that with the right blade, this is an amazing $50 razor.
