There was in fact some later posts that were inappropriate. When Andyshaves deleted his original opening thread post, it automatically soft deletes the entire thread as the creator. Up to him, since he opened this follow up thread.

As to PM monitoring, I am unaware that or if we have that capability here but would not take advantage of it regardless as I personally also value privacy and support the right to same.

Another spin of the "PM being private" aspect is....even though a PM between people may be private and not visible from Mods/Admins, it doesn't stop someone from forwarding a private conversation to a mod.

But I do fully believe that PM's can be read by certain people if they really wanted to. The same way mods/admins can see deleted posts.

If it's online, it's out there and not private.

Wow. I apparently missed a good bit after falling asleep. Wake up and see posts of being trolled and PM's made public by the said troll and deleted threads. Gotta love the Internet lol.

Ive never been one to complain about previkus experiences. Its easier to let it go and.move forward. But there are some legitimate concerns regarding accuracy and bias that were made in this thread, and it is kind of a shame to see it disappear before it can actually be beneficial...

Chris, it was the original poster who deleted the thread, not a DFS administrator or moderator.  Also, I do agree with @Bruce that the attack posts towards the end of the thread, before it was deleted, were completely unprofessional on several levels.  The need to vent can be strong at times.  However, even venting can be done in a courteous manner;  a small minority of the posts in that thread were anything but.  Let's not allow one person with poor manners to ruin it for the rest of us.  We can, and should, move on.

Now, may I tell you about the time the city lost my parking ticket payment and demanded I pay it again? Tongue

Hey BadDad,

It does indeed negate the concerns I was presenting. The reality of it is, though, that after rereading the thread several times, any new member of this community could have perceived the thread to be based on Forum Bias, and the fact that trolling was occurring would negate the presentation of neutrality. Whatever that idiot troll was doing could completely invalidate the points several members had presented about other forums.
While it's not my intent to intentionally present to a new member any form of bias, as could be perceived by deleting the original thread, it is my intent to promote a harmonious environment where one can speak their mind without fear of being trolled upon. It was clear the original thread had run its course in this respect.

The concerns would be better presented in a editorial, locked sticky. Those concerns, in my opinion, should pertain specifically to what can be found here at DFS, being:
Certain forums "hire" moderators, DFS does not.
DFS is committed to fostering a user-friendly environment, where everyone can safely express opinions.
DFS will do all in its power to mediate a concern without resorting to extremes.
Our community is better served by transparent administration, with clear goals and intents for the platforms they provide.

Please note, I'm not speaking for, or on behalf of, DFS or Andrew. It's my perception that those are some of the major pillars here at DFS, and these were the perceptions I obtained from the previous thread. It's not up to me to state this on behalf of the forums administration, but it is up to me to remove a thread I created that I feel would invariably become a deterrent to a new member.

I hope this helps explain my logic. Thanks for asking, though!

LOL!  I wish it would have been that easy, Freddie, but if I had tried that I probably would have been given twenty years to life. Winking

I just don't like when people abuse latitude.  Every forum has rules, you can't have anarchy going on for the sake of "perceived fairness".

Just to be clear, no one here is going to stare at you in the shower room. Though I am a bit unnerved that this is the analogy you chose. Big Grin
