I got sidetracked early this morning and ended up paying a princely sum for this at the ATT site:  Rhodium Gillette Thin Handle NEW Short Comb razor. Figured I ought to check out something that's even older than me! Tongue

Don't know what to expect of it, but it'll be fun finding out.  Some say the Short Comb is a little more aggressive than the Long Comb, while others say the oposite. And, you guessed it... Many say they're about the same. Talk about YMMV!

I never had one of these in the 50s and 60s, but did have my share of the Gillettes that were being produced back then. If only I had squirreled them away as I left wet shaving for the quick, but lousy electric shaves that were to see me through the next 50 years, I'd have a bit more coin in my pocket today. Who knew?

Any thoughts on what the experience will be?

I have both a long comb and short comb NEW and really enjoy them both.  They have not left my rotation since I obtained them.  While mine are user grade (especially the long comb) yours is a very handsome piece, indeed.  Use it in the best of health. Happy2

Good to hear that from an experienced user, Freddy, thanks.

Freddy, how do they compare as far as aggressiveness goes for you?

For me, they both make for comfortable shaves, neither too aggressive nor too mild. I used the long comb NEW this morning, with a third use Gillette Nacet blade, and got a BBS shave with no effort. The blade can make a significant difference in them as far as aggressiveness is concerned so experimenting with different blades in these razors is the key.

Thanks for the feedback Freddy. I've been wanting to dive into the vintage razor experience and am trying to gather as much info as possible on the different options. There are so many!

Sorry for the threadjack, beamon. Enjoy your beautiful new NEW and let us know how it shaves.

Not a problem, Jeff. I do it to others and expect for others to do it to me. It's the logical extension of conversational flow. Life's too short!
