There's just something about "Burl"...

Isn't it amazing how a disease or imperfection in a tree can create some of the most beautiful grain patterns? Here's an example.

Chaotic imagery is far more interesting because you are engaged in trying to make sense of it. In the most primitive sense, it's trying to decide whether a thing is something that you can eat or it is something that may eat you. Since there is no regular pattern, you never tire of looking for it.

I'm sure it's also related to "soft fascination" too - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention_...ion_theory - which happens when you stare at a fireplace, or clouds, or waves on water.
