Wow, that sounds terrible PickledNorthern. Is there any way you could trim the threaded post down so you could actually use any handle you want? I know nobody should have to modify a brand new razor to make it work, but maybe it's an option. As far as the blade alignment tolerances go, that's just unacceptable.

I suppose you could grind a little down on the post and chase the threads, but I suspect that higher end handles will fit. I don't have much for handles, and my son has a couple of my better ones, including my only Ikon. I tried the Maggard, the handle from my Rockwell, and and a couple of no names. The odd thing is that those handles will fit every other razor I own so.....


I just now shaved with it, and I have to say I am pretty impressed. If my grade on it was a D before, I would give it a B- now. If I was only grading based on the shave, it would get an A. It is a very efficient razor, and similar to my feelings about the Blackbird, it feels a LOT milder than it is. It definitely left my face with an R41/H2/Mogoose smooth shave. I did irritate my neck a little bit and left a couple of weepers when I went ATG, but I blame myself not the razor. The razor deserves respect, but it shaves so mildly that by the end of the shave, I really wasn't paying much attention. My bad.

This thing definitely shaves like it cost more than $40, even if it was built like it cost $10. I am kind of on the fence with my opinion about this one. I know it was cheap, but Razorock built the Hawk for half the money, and it fits together to tightly Joe should have charged two more dollars and sent a shoehorn along with it.

I chose the I2 Hydromagic this morning, it's a wonderful razor. Indeed I just bought a second one to see me through possible zombie apocalypse. Perhaps it's just the handle but I prefer it to my G series.

The last time I went shopping for a vintage SE razor was over 4 years ago. Last week I decided I’d like to get another 17 tooth Clog Pruf and another G Bar. So I went online looking and “WOW” things really have changed. It used to be there was plenty of all type SEs in good condition on the auction and retail sites at very reasonable prices. It doesn’t appear that way now. When I found something nice it was very expensive. Heck, even the razors in poor condition were priced high. I found a G Bar that looked fairly good and was only $15 but the shipping was $12, some deal. It used to be G Bars were everywhere and you could buy them all day long for less than $10. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to accept times have changed.

Demand for SEs has gone up due to more people using them. Not a bad thing in my eyes.

I was lucky enough to obtain one of the Hawks when it came out a couple weeks ago and have been getting some fantastic shaves on it, with the exception of the first shave . My only issue with the razor is the weight. And I understand the reasoning behind the materials and I think what Razorock did was a great thing. It allowed me the opportunity to try some new blades at a reasonable cost. But now that I know the blades work well for me...I would like to get a heftier/more solid razor. Hopefully the Hawk isn't a "gateway drug" and i'm not on the road to a bad case of Artist Club RAD

But, having said that, I would like to upgrade and do so for a reasonable cost. Does anyone have both The General and the Supply Provision single edge? Or, perhaps has tried both? Each are about $60 and are coming out soon.

From what I've read, the SP is a hefty razor but, apparently there were some issues with loading??? Does anyone know if that issue corrected? Are those first bath razors still useable?

The General looks very nice but I'm concerned it's too light. Can anyone compare the General's weight to a Standard razor (the two look similar so I'm assuming the weight is similar).

HoosierShave, the Supply Provision uses standard injector blades not the Feather AC blades. I don't know if you were aware of that. I think Colonial Razors was planning on making the General out of different metals in the future (brass?) so maybe you can hold out for that if you are concerned about the aluminum version being too light. Maybe he can chime in on that...

If the weight of a Colonial is similar to say a Gillette Flair Tip, I'm ok with that. But if they are coming out with a heavier metal, maybe I will wait. Thanks!
