The problem with Classic Shaving and the Cobra razors

Very true, I can't argue with that sentiment.  But like another member pointed out, when someone is offering a great deal that is well below retail for a pristine condition or like new item that they could get much more money for, no one really ever steps in to tell them they should raise the price.  I think we should leave it up to the parties involved as the transactions are voluntary and mutually beneficial.  Neither buyers nor sellers are stupid, we're all adults.  Otherwise, get rid of the BST all together.

Actually, when something like that happens, very often you will see posts like, "Wow, that's a great price. GLWTS" suggesting that it is a bargain.  The B/S/T is a large part of this and many other hobbyist sites but that's not to say that fairness shouldn't play a part.

Yeah, you're right.  You do get a lot of comments like that.  I always figured they were saying that in a manner that actually helps the sale occur at the given price.  

Either way, it's a tough subject without an easy solution.  Glad I'm not a moderator!

I was speaking as a member, not as a moderator.  It really is my personal belief.  You might be interested to know that, even though there are only four of us in that capacity, including the administrator, we do not always see eye to eye, even on this subject.  

Perhaps what I am looking for is a sense of fair play without the need for specific rules.  Sometimes, fair play can be a tough commodity to come by, though.

I'd like to know if the casting molds got repaired. From what I recall, about the 3rd batch and subsequent batches since is that there is a quality issue with the blade alignment and also holding it tight. When guys were looking to exchange them, they were sent another razor with the same issue. The razor isn't worth anything if it's not going to shave as intended

There are no issues. I spoke to the fellows at CS last year and they explained to me, what I already had suspected. The razor operates the way it was designed. It is not supposed to be rigid like a Mongoose. The head has a little movement by design.

As to blade alignment, I have never seen that deficiency and I own three of them. It is possible, but I have never seen it.

This is a very finicky razor for sure, but it is one of the best razors I have ever owned and it shaves the way it is supposed to shave, at least in my experience.

So once again a couple of Cobra razors went up on Classic Shaving's site.  Since they sold out in a couple minutes I once again assume only a couple were made.  The problem with this model in my mind is two fold.  First you get a lot of pissed off customers.  People who still want to buy these razors who just can never seem to make it to their site during the 90 seconds they are available.

The second issue is far more problematic in my view.  There are currently two (does that number sound familiar?) brand new in box Cobra Classic razors up for sale on eBay, one with a entry bid of $350 and a buy it now of $450 and the other with just a buy it now of $400.  Since these razors are never available, I think people believe them to be some sort of holy grail, which they simply are not.  The "hinge" locking mechanism just looks downright bad and the groves in the handle are no longer clean and smooth due to the number of times the mold has been used.  

Sadly, the same thing has been happening on eBay with the King Cobra.  I recently saw one sell for over $500, and there is currently one listed for $375 if memory serves.  People are making money ripping people off simply because of the idiotic availability / way they sell these razors at Classic Shaving.  It has been this way for FIVE years.  The model used is obviously by choice as there is no other way to explain their selling them one or two at a time.  

I am thrilled to see ATT joining Mongoose as alternatives to the Cobra.  Classic Shaving needs to get their asses kicked here.  The biggest shame of it all is, Classic Shaving were the first to come out with a Feather AC style SE razor and they have never really gotten their act together in a way to properly deal with the market forces.

Sorry for the mini rant here, but I was looking for something else on eBay and I just happened to notice once again three different highly over priced new in box Cobra SE razors for sale.

Hello The Dude Abides

I'll briefly tell you my experience with Classic Shaving: a few days ago I bought a King Cobra on their website and offered a discount of 18%. Yesterday I received the shipment and, to my amazement and rammation, I noticed the total lack of care and professionalism in the packaging and I had the feeling that the razor had already been used. I sent them a protest mail with photos and, as expected, no answer from them. What can I say? Fortunately, not all American producers / sellers are so rude. So far I have had very flattering e-commerce experiences in the United States, evidently Murphy's law was waiting for me.
