Anybody heard anything about how the new model shaves? According to Murat he new model has completely changed in design. I hope it shaves like the 2020 model and not like some of the more aggressive previous models. The first ones are delivered around 3th week of May it seems.

Murat said to me that the new model 2021 (compact) will be slightly more aggressive from 2020 sailor.

I’m hoping it’s smoother than the 2019 was in regards to blade feel.  Never shaved with the 2021 so I have no idea how that compared to the 2019 but read it was noticeably smoother. Which is what partially motivated me to pull the trigger along with the weight reduction  I guess I’ll wait and see.

Based on the data I have, the 2020 and the 2021 have basically the same profile from guard to guard. The 2021 has a larger flat spot on the top cap but the curve and guard are very similar. The 2021 is going to be a similar shaver. The 2020 is likely to be just a bit smoother but I doubt anyone would notice without running them side by side. The 2021 is essentially a 2020 with a little smaller head and a shorter handle, ala 2017 length. The handle length may disappoint some people....but the 2021 is essentially a shorter, lighter 2020.

Looking forward to reports on usage once people get theirs in. Missed the drop unfortunately.

Very nice. The first one is one I don't have. One day I will stumble upon one for sale. Until then, I drool over yours. Smile

Atop the Razor's Edge

I still believe the original B&R Adjustable is among the very best. Easy to disassemble and thoroughly clean; came with an extra spring and spring retaining disc; easily aligned user adjustable number indexing; six parts (stand makes seven); nice stand with etched circle lettering; super smooth shave all through the numbers and round again.

Today I used the 2021 RSMC on settings #1, #12, and on the Zero Dot.

Setting #12 requires a 720º spin of the adjustment dial and is wide open (I think). It's still smooth going S-N on my neck and N-S on my soul patch and upper lip.

The razor shaves rather well on its very lowest setting, the Zero Dot. On that setting there is virtually no blade feel at all in my most sensitive area in its most sensitive direction. (Which means my upper lip going S-N/ATG.)

I've used only a Wizamet SI blade with the razor. (I use only the Wizamet and the Polsilver SI blades.)

What's not to like about the Sailor?

Happy shaves,

Jim
