Preshave: Hot shower and PAA Cube
Bowl: HC&C Stainless
Brush: Trafalgar T3
Razor: Tatara Muramasa
Blade: RK Chromium (new)
Soap: Barrister and Mann Bay Rum
Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Bay Rum Splash plus HC&C unscented balm.

Maiden voyage with this beautiful razor.
Pass 1 - WTG/XTG on number 3
Pass 2 - ATG on number 2
Pickups on number 4

Great looking razor - feels heavy and well built in my hand. Easy to maneuver and glides across my face. No issues getting the tight spots under my nose.

Clean ups took a little longer than normal and I found myself going over the same spot a few too many times (blade buffing and j-strokes) BBS was achieved with no nicks but I had a bit of feedback with the alum. For my next shave, I’ll try Gillette 7 O’Clock Platinum Black blade and will start my first pass on 4.

Numbers on the adjustment dial are barely readable for me. They are tiny and dull. I didn’t have my reading glasses near me so used the flashlight on my phone to adjust during the shave. This is a deal killer for me - Tatara will need to address this in the future releases IMO.

For the software - The B&M Bay Rum lathered easily and provided me with a slick and protective lather. The Aftershave splash was quite nice - this is a really great bay rum scent. I like bay rum and this scent is up there with my top scent, PAAs Atomic Bay Rum.

[Image: 9JUgwGv.jpg]Shave #2 with Senhor Muramasa

Switched out my RK Chromium with a Gillette 7 O’Clock Platinum Black.  Sharper blade for me and one of my favs.

Another two pass shave - WTG/XTG on setting 5, then ATG plus clean ups on setting 3.

BBS again - nice smooth shave.  Razor performed well and I’m starting to get the hang of the Muramasa versus my Timeless Ti 95 (my daily driver).  Had some feedback with the alum as I’m still going over my trouble spots a few too many times.  The grip on this razor handle is great and again the head is quite maneuverable.

Software was solid again - B&M with the easy lather and very good performance.

4th and final shave with this beauty
Preshave: Hot shower and PAA Cube
Bowl: HC&C Stainless
Brush: Trafalgar T3
Razor: Tatara Muramasa
Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Platinum Black (new)
Soap: HC&C Bay Rum
Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Bay Rum Splash plus HC&C unscented balm.

Final run with the Muramasa. Let me start by thanking Dan and the members of this community for giving me the opportunity to use this beautiful razor. This was my first time participating in a pass around and I really enjoyed it.
This is a fantastic razor and I really got the hang of it after a couple of shaves. Very smooth and maneuverable, felt lovely in the hand, and performed extremely well. BBS…
The only issue I have with the razor is the size of the numbers on the adjustment dial. I wear reading glasses and really couldn’t see the dial during the shave. It’s been said before but Tatara should work to improve the dial on future models.

hi, new member to this forum but have generally been around the wet shaving world for some time.

Anyways, I just purchased this razor during the sale last week and am looking forward to it.  As a suggestion to #1, the narrow window, I would do it slightly differently:  Drill out the holes for 5 vertical dimples, at #1 the background of only 1 hole would be red, the rest would be black. As you adjust up, the background of subsequent holes changes to red.  Therefore, a #2.5 shave would have 2 holes/circles fully filled and the 3rd hold half-filled.

This could easily be accomplished with current hardware and would just need some (carefully aligned) red banding on the black inner piece in which the numbers are currently stamped.

I think that would look pretty elegant.

Regardless, thank you for the review it helped me with my decision!  Looking forward to its arrival soon.

How many razors can you use at one time?
Galveston
I recently acquired a Muramasa myself. I would say my observations align with most everyone else- comparatively mild, nicely efficient. My only complaint is that the handle is both comparatively narrow and short. One or the other, I can deal with, but both is a bit of a hand cramp. I emailed and asked if longer handles would be an option at some point. Joao replied that they are looking at longer handles, but have "some new projects" which will be coming out first.

I did not ask, but I would hope that more aggressive plates would be an option. There are a few millimeters of room which make this more than possible... Can't wait to see!

I've heard at least one person describing the Muramasa as a bit draggy.

Has anyone else here had that experience?

I'm thinking about picking one up during the sales.
