I was happy there was a vegan soap for a passaround. I use exclusively vegetarian/vegan friendly soaps and synth bushes. Unfortunately, this does not allow me to make any comparisons to a tallow soap as I have never used one. When I first started this "hobby", I was glad there were options for me out there and that they continue to grow and improve.

This soap falls more likely into the croap category, though I find it may even be more of perhaps a very firm cream. It is very easy to scoop and transfer to a brush, bowl, or scuttle. The scent is light, but very nice. I tried the soap a few times. I face lathered as well as bowl lathered (photos provided). It performed great either way as per your preference. It takes water well, but you don't have to go crazy to get a nice, creamy, hydrated lather. A small scoop makes plenty of lather for a 3 pass shave, perhaps more. I did 2 and buffing/cleanup and had plenty of leftover lather.

Here are a couple of lather shots from my bowl:

Tatara Honour

Great scent on this one. Danny boy provided a detailed and most excellent scent breakdown. So well blended I can't discern individual notes. It has a spa like theme - which I am typically not a fan of at all [e. g. Panna Crema Green]. Very very top shelf scent pyramid - I loved it but know it is going to grow on me even more with more lathers.

Another green puck for our Friday Fougère themed shaves. Not a fougère - but green and clean.

Not a tallow soap [] which I freely and much prefer - a good base though... Analog = Grooming Department Vegan [Janus]. Boys, this is worth a test run.

Tatara Honour Soap Passaround

USPS was very generous today, delivering both the Tatara Honour soap as well as a new Rudy Vey AS3M brush turned from Ukranian bog wood with Muhle 25 mm knot. Very glad I am an evening shaver!

The Tatara soap is superb. The scent and performance puts me in mind of Ethos Greenfresh, but not as bright and lively. Honour's scent is sublime and sophisticated. As TommyCarioca so aptly described it, "green and clean."

Honour lathered easily and took a good amount of water. Despite the hydration, the lather was not runny at all, holding its structure in the bowl through face and head shave. Lather provided good protection and very nice glide/slickness. Again, I can only describe this soap as superb.

This baby's scent stuck on me for hours. It dawned on me what it is related to. Kissing cousin to Jo Malone's Basil and Neroli. The musk is strong in this one. A clean musk.... Don't know if Basil is in the pyramid but it sure is similar to JoMo.

The lather building is interesting. No early foamy bubbles upon building. Creates a nice creamy proto lather that is pretty thirsty for a vegan puck. I really dig this one as manifest by 2 days in a row. .

Tatara Honour Soap Passaround -- February 14, 2024 -- Wednesday Evening Edition

<>Schick G<>Personna 74 Tungsten<>Rudy Vey AS3M bog wood<>Tatara Honour<>

Tatara Honour continues to delight. I tried hydrating the lather even more, and the lather held together. Excellent soap, delightful scent. Very nice post-shave feel.

I just discovered a taste that reminds me of the indescribable element in Honour: Litchi Mochi Japanese candy.

Two shaves in so far, so time to provide some feedback.

Scent and performance are great! Hard to describe the scent other than fresh and clean. I think it will please the masses. I've been scooping slightly smaller than an almond sized chunk of soap and smearing it into my captains choice lather bowl. Loading with a damp brush gives me a nice paste, which quickly turns into a lather with some water. The soap takes water well and quickly gets a nice sheen to it. I am actually surprised how much water it can take, and it seems to keep growing and getting more slick.

The two shaves have been with my vector on a few different lengths of growth. The soap did its job and left me smooth without irritation.

The only two knocks I have on the soap are the container is a bit fragile, and this passaround tub seems to have acquired some dents, I assume from shipping. Second one is the price, as this is an expensive soap for a smaller amount compared to most other artisans. I understand it's imported, which I'm sure is a large cause to the price.

Thanks to DanLaw and Tatara razors for allowing the passaround to happen. Will get the soap shipped out to the next participant.
