Just won an auction on Ebay for these. It's a start and a very minimal investment. Should I order blades on Amazon or is there a vendor here that I can patronize???

Again, thanks for the input. The adventure begins......

One cannot simply beat an old Schick G Model injector as they are plentiful on the 'bay and cheap as dirt usually.  Wink

That is a good cross section of mild to wild Gem style SE razors. The micromatic bullet tip is on the mild end and micromatic open combs are on the wild side. You have 2 distinctly seperate micromatic open combs notice how the brass one has no bumps on the base plate and the other chrome plated one does. They are similar but not the same shave wise. As far as blades goes usually the best deal is to buy 100 packs of the gem blades usually the stainless steel ptfe coated ones are prefferred but if you want to buy singles or an assortment of different types like carbon steel blades go to tryablade.com to buy them by the blade.

Also when you use them they are a little different from DE razors angle is shallow almost ride the cap for those razors and use less pressure than you would with a DE especially with the micromatic open comb razors. The optimal angle for the micromatics is the bevel on the edge of the cap. Lay it flat to the face then angle it in until the bevel is flat with the face and try to maintain that angle or close as possible if you dial it in more by feel of the blade afterwards.

As far as the original question goes in the modern realm leaving out AC style injector razors you don't have many options in the $100 or less realm.

For Gem razors you can buy assuming they even still make it you have the PAA Starling V2 and that is it. The other option is to go the DIY route and get a 3D printed one either doing your own printing or have someone make it for you using some freely available designs.

For injector razors you have 2 options besides DIY and that is the Supply V2 alloy version at $75 with 3 different aggression level plates or the Type L injector clones of the old Schick Type L razor that you can get on ebay, amazon, ebarbershop. Same razor different name depending the vendor. The prices on the injector clones will vary depending the vendor and how many blades are included with the razor.

For newer and discontinued but can still be had used the Mongoose Minigoose might drop below $100 in used realm. That razor takes Schick injector blades. You also have the Type O clones which are knock offs of the Schick Type O injector that still show up for sale used in the under $100 price range. You can also add the PAA Starling V1 and V2 razors here if it is discontinued.

There are some other options above $100 but those razors like the Blackland Sabre I don't think you'll ever catch them at $100 or less on sale or used.

I think my favourite SE that I own is a pink Schick type K1 "Lady Eversharp" injector, like this one:

The handle is longer than I'm accustomed to, but since it's mostly plastic the balance is great.
The "Hydromagic" lever is a worthwhile feature for loosening the blade for rinsing while keeping it captive.

If you're looking at vintage Schick injectors, there's a lot of useful info here - http://www.safetyrazors.net/schick/schicktech.htm

That's a good selection to try. Only use the GEM PTFE blades. You can get them at a variety of places, but I've had good luck with prices at Connaught and Ted Pella. All of the other blades (even if they're made for shaving) feel like paint scrapers to me.

I'm a head/neck shaver as well, and the only SE I'm keeping is my MMOC. I can't find an injector that is aggressive enough for my tastes, and the AC blades just feel like a waste. The blade is super wide and I'm primarily a head shaver. My head is rounded, not flat, so I find I'm only using a very small portion of the blade. I've also struggled to find one of these with the aggression I want, too.
