I wanna try some of those adult beverages he mentioned during the summer months! We can all bring a local favorite and share. Guess we need to line up designated drivers as well as pilots!

Razor: Razorock Lupo .72
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - Burnt Butterscotch
Soap: Los Jabones de Joserra - Rodrigo De Jerez
Aftershave: McDuff - Alone in the Woods
Blade: Astra Superior

Pretty awesome 5 AM shave this morning. I was 1/2 asleep and didn't even cut myself Wink

I must say I'm enamored with the Lupo 72. If I was forced to pick only 1 razor from my overflowing den of nifty, shiny razors, it would probably be the Lupo 72. Yep, it works better (for me) than either of my Wolfman's... and just happens to be 5X cheaper. The Yates, Henson, and Rex Envoy are all excellent razors too and a blast to use, but the humble little Lupo is the pack leader in my den. The 95 plate is also a good time, but there is something special about the 72 plate on my face.

Let's chat about soap. Los Jabones de Joserra "Rodrigo De Jerez" landed this week and today was the maiden voyage. "Rodrigo De Jerez" is a straight-up tobacco scent. As you may know, it's actually kinda hard to find a straight-up, well executed tobacco scent in the wetshaving world. Most are mixed with overly sweet notes, or boozy notes, or random leather notes. Many of us (including myself) simply want a tobacco scented soap that smells only like humidor or un-cut cigar. Well, I'm happy to report "Rodrigo De Jerez" accomplishes that! Of course the performance and post-shave are killer too. So if you want a great tobacco scented soap, look no further than this guy.

Oh, my 4 McDuff splashes arrived too. What a week! "Alone in the Woods" is a woodsy scent. Lots of cedar (which I like). Some how it pairs well with "Rodrigo De Jerez". Kinda like I was enjoying a cigar out in woods. This is a non-alcohol splash. It has a great, moisturizing feel and doesn't really dry down much. So ya better love the tacky feel. Scent strength is fairly light. I dig this stuff a lot so far. (and psst... its onsale for $12 at The Shave Supply TheShaveSupply right now). Great shop, incredibly fast shipping, and Gareth is a super nice dude.

And lastly, the vintage Astra just keeps going. I would likely pay a stupid amount of $ for a stash of these blades (if I could find them).

Hey its Friday! Party on shave brothers.

Great read and PARTY AT PAUL'S PLACE !!!!!!!!

I like the way you guys think!

All Y'all should jump on a bird and fly on over to the West Coast. We'd love to have you. Mi Casa es tu Casa. We could do a masked-mini-meetup... with adult beverages of course. There are 2 other active DFS members here in Bellingham too. I see them on occasion... in-person, which is always fun. When I grew an unruly quarantine beard last year I thought they were gonna ask for my DFS resignation Wink

Razor: Schick Injector
Brush: Klenzo w/22mm TGN Badger Badger Knot
Soap: McDuff’s - Birch & Root (sample… thanks Paul)
Aftershave: McDuff’s - Old Sea Captain

I was graciously given this Injector by a Gentleman named Bruce on the Shavenook forum. I know nothing about injectors, but man I really like this one! It’s very aggressive and felt like it wanted to bite, but I gave it a very light touch and it delivered in spades.

Experts; What do I have here? How old is this guy? Educate me on this new addition to my life. Thank you!

Razor: Wolfman WR2 (1.25 gap)
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - “Sea Glass”
Soap: Noble Otter - Hamami
Aftershave: Noble Otter - Hamami
Blade: Astra Superior

First use of NO Hamami last night. I've been interested in trying this one for a while. Reviews are very mixed and some people seem to hate it with a passion (including the person I purchased this once used set from). I will say its unique and clearly not for everyone. I will agree with what another review posted.... "floral, yet manly". It's complex and has an exotic aroma. I let my wife smell it and she thought it smelled oddly like coconut. When I told her the advertised scent was inspired by a Turkish Bathhouse, she just laughed and said our hobby is getting a little carried away with this stuff. Haha. She's probably right. Bottom-line is, I like it a lot!

I agree with the way your wife thinks, and I'm grateful to be able to laugh about it.

Razor: Wolfman WR2 (1.25 gap)
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - "El Segador" w/ 26mm Boar
Soap: Noble Otter - Hamami
Aftershave: Noble Otter - Hamami
Blade: Feather

Wanted to do another round with some of the same gear (2 days in a row). Unlike me, but I'm trying to decide if I want to order another Wolfman WR2 (bigger gap). And, the Noble Otter "Hamami" was so intriguing, I gave it another go last night.

My dilemma with the WR2 is I've never fully bonded with the 1.25 gap. It's typically hard for me to find the prefect cutting angle and I seem to require a lot of ATG touch-ups (which are not that comfortable). At the same time the 1.25 gap feels sorta aggressive on the face. I think its a great razor, but I likely just ordered the wrong gap. I'm tempted to ramp up to the big 1.55 gap. It could help my situation, or be a drunken cowboy move. For my next shave, I am going to try to "shim" my 1.25 WR2 and attempt to simulate a 1.55 gap. Might be an epic fail, but only one way to find out!
