:-) Oldguy, I had an uncle who served on an airfield in the UK during WW2, and when he came back he wouldn't have the stuff in his home. I think he probably ate about 2 pallets of the stuff during that time and had had more than enough of it. He never confirmed the amount, only that they had it day in and day out, every day and in every way.

I knew that about Hawaii.

I would dine on Alpo before eating that greasy fat in a can.

I really like Spam.  We ate it sometimes when I was growing up.  I grew up in rural Northeastern Pennsylvania.  I haven't had it in years.  I made it one time when my wife and I had just started seeing each other.  She didn't eat it.  I made a lot of different things from when I was growing up: Spam, ham hocks & beans, side pork & mashed potatoes, etc.  Yup, all the cheap stuff that a lot of people consider garbage.  We didn't have much money when I was growing up, but I didn't know any better.  I just thought it was good food!  My wife won't eat any of it.  She grew up a city girl.

Now, about smoking Spam, I'm not sure I get it.  I can't seem to get it to stay lit. Tongue

I had some with my eggs for breakfast over the weekend. It was the first time I had it in a long time and it wasn't as good as I remember.

Good old fashioned home cooking. I grew up in the 60s in a family of 7 and I didn't think we were poor but there was a budget and mom had to feed us all within that. Mom was French Canadian so we ate lots of that kind of food, the one I remember most was a dish called pate chinois which translates to Chinese food but wasn't Chinese food, it was like shepard's pie but simpler, basically browned ground beef with onions salt and pepper into a casserole dish with a layer of creamed corn poured over and topped with mashed potatoes. Baked in the oven then dished up, all your food groups. Most of the time mom didn't go to the fuss of the casserole dish and instead made a "deconstructed" version - fried hamburger patties, plated with mashed potatoes and creamed corn. We'd break up the hamburger patty and mix the whole thing together on the plate and made what we called "giblut" - I have no idea how to spell the word but I think it was french for messy mixture of stuff on our plate that was tasty. Dad, being of english heritage tried to feed us spam but we preferred the other stuff.

My wife felt like pizza tonight.

While the dough was rising and the sauce melding flavors I sauteed some meats.

I chose SPAM! I diced it before cooking.

I topped the pizza with  SPAM but my wife chose sausage. She hates SPAM.

My SPAM pizza was delicious.

Of course it was Phil! It's pork shoulder, just in a different form. The same part of the pig that makes BBQ (genuine BBQ) pork "butt" aka Boston butt or "picnic" so delicious.
