Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum
I've been on a Bay Rum journey as of late and because of that, I was quite excited to try the soap.
It has a traditional Bay Rum scent with the fragrance oils being all natural. I find this to be a plus. The scent is rather nice and really drew me in.
The soap whipped up into a fantastic slick, cushioning lather rather quickly. I'd say in large part due to the ingredients of the soap which includes such oils as Coconut, Olive, Hemp Seed, Palm, Safflower, and Castor. But also in no small part due to the Black Badger knot of the Parker brush.
The brush looks great with the marbling of the ivory-colored handle contrasting the dark fibers. The knot is a surprising middle ground with both exfoliating and soft fibers. I'm no stranger to Pure Badge so I know what scritchy feels like. That said, I like this one!
The Parker R78R is a solid brass razor with an electroplated dark grey graphite finish. I think it looks great and was a pleasure to shave with. It wasn't too tame or overly aggressive. And when paired with a Parker Premium blade, you'll get a smooth shave. I know I did.
Take care and enjoy your shaves.
