A wonderful shave with this new creation from JabonMan. It’s base has to be within the best I have tried though it’s scent profile doesn’t really connect with me. The soap lathers up beautifully, super slick with a second to none residual slickness.

Tuesday DECember 10

Going for a straight razor shave today.

Bowl/Scuttle - GP12
Soap - Tabac
Brush - Alpha Outlaw Titanium
Strop - Heirloom/Tony Miller Spanish Bridal
Blade - GEM SE SS (2)
Razor1 - RigaRazor Mappin Lancet replica
Razor2 - TNNSER 3D
Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Clubman Whiskey Woods A/S

Shave rating 5 of 5

One of my favorite straight razors is the Mappin Lancet Edge razor. It took me a long time to find one and an even longer time to find one in good condition. While I was looking, I decided to ask Sergej from RigaRazor to make me a replica. Sergej did a beautiful job. This is a big 9/8 razor. Did my first pass WTG with the RigaRazor Lancet. Did my second pass XTG with my TNNSER 3D and the result was a nice BBS shave. I re-opened 1 weeper with the RigaRazor and re-opened another with the TNNSER 3D (disappointing). The Tabac lather was nice and thick but seemed a little dry. The Alpha Outlaw brush is one of my favorites. The alum was vocal on both sides of my neck. Finished up with the Whiskey Woods - great scent!

Happy DECember and great shaves everyone.

......POST:....Humphrey's Witch Hazel, CeraVe SA Cream, Prada Luna Rossa Sport EDT

I had a really sweet shave tonight.  First off, I went back to the Grooming Dept preshave after a long and uncustomary absence.  I still like the CeraVe SA Cream for post, but the SA Cleanser, which I use at night, does not seem to add much over plain hot water as a preshave.  Second, I seem to be awash in top-notch DE blades lately.  I like a handful of brands for different applications.  The Wizamet IS blades currently rule the roost for me, but a recent challenger, the Czech Blade Tiger Platinum SS, is running close with the Wizamets.  Time will tell how well the Tiger Plats stand up.  The TOBS No. 50 is another pleasant surprise.  I like TOBS creams, own a few of them, and needed another like a hole in the head.  But the No. 50 smells nice to my nose and whips up like a dream.

Oh, and the G20 is divine - especially in the winter.  A whole relaxed shave's worth of warm, moist lather is a real treat.

Happy shaves everyone.
