Sublime shave this a.m.  This brass Lvl. 2 was my first CG razor, and it hasn’t got a lot of use since I’ve been exploring a lot of razors over the past year.  Boy, what a great shave.  The Lvl. 2 with the Wizamet on its third use, combined with the GD soap was incredible.  Smooth and comfortable and, using just the razor’s weight, incredibly close and irritation free.  One of those “spoiler” shaves where you realize that the shaves you thought were really good weren’t actually as good as you thought.

This newer release of the Maleki works very well, like all the GD soaps, but it has a clearly different scent from the earlier release.  Reminiscent of the earlier release, but It’s not nearly as pleasing; it seems to have less pepper and more of a “synthetic chemical” thing going on.  It elicited a frown from the missus, which is something very different from the reaction to the earlier iterations I have.  I really hope it will mature into something that more closely resembles the earlier releases.  This had been a real favorite, but this new tub does not make the grade.

Have a great day gentlemen.
