HSOTD/SOTD 11/4/22

Shower: Stirling Mountain Man soap bar
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Razor: Rex Konsul
Blade: Treet Black
Soap: Stirling Frankincence & Myrrh
Bowl: Timeless
Brush: Meggard's
Post-shave: Cold water rinse, alum block, Thayer's aloe and witch hazel
Aftershave: Stirling Frankincence & Myrrh
Balm: Zingari Man unscented balm

Just got the Frankincense & Myrrh for the holidays. I often carry a small vile of F&M essential oils in my pocket and use it as a mustache oil - then through the day I get whiffs of F&M as a reminder of my Lord Jesus and his sacrifice he made of himself 2000 years ago. So I like the scent combination and as a bonus it reminds me of the holidays.

Today was day 1 with the Treet black blade - its a great blade, really. I got a few nicks but today's shave was much better than yesterday, I think because the Stirling sap is much better than yesterday's Razorock soap, but also I used the PAA Cube preshave, which I think makes a pretty significant difference (used Proraso preshave yesterday).

I'm still not convinced that the Konsul is for me, might go back to the Ambassador and compare, or perhaps do 1 side with the Ambassador and 1 side with the Konsul and see how they compare. Its close. They're both fine razors but not sure which one is for me and my skin.

Thank you for reading, my best to all my shaving pals, and as always keep looking up!

An outstanding 2 pass (WTG & ATG) shave. I have read about these shaves and was forced to go that route this morning prior to an early appointment. It works! But I miss playing with the lather. Sad I will most likely repeat some of this set up tomorrow.

A lovely slick creamy lather for today's face shave. The scent is amazing and perfectly strong. The brush kept producing loads of lather.

Side by side today with Timeless Ti .68 OC and Wolfman .95 using a Green 7 O’Clock blade
Brush was RV Muhle STF now my fav brush
SV Morado

The wolfman has a touch more resistance/tug when cutting over the Timeless in feel
Both are awesome razors of course would rather just have one razor than two though Smile
So down to trying the .95 plates for the Timeless and for wolfman trying a .85 and a OC in that same .85 maybe and the Tatara razors both the regular plate models and the adjustable in my quest for my fav razor and again enjoying the journey of doing so

Pre: P.A.A. Cube 2.0

Razor: Tatara Masamune Ti
Blade: Eddison Super Stainless

Soap: P.A.A. CaD
Brush: Vikings Blade White Knight
Bowl: Bluff Cove Pottery

Post 1: P.A.A. Alum No-Slip Grip System w / Dry Dock System
Post 2: Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Deep Cleansing Astringent w/ Menthol & Eucalyptus
Aftershave: P.A.A. Speakeasy
Post 4: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry w/ Hyaluronic Acid

I have some samples I've been sitting on for a bit so for today's shave my hand easily went to CaD. This is P.A.A's take on the classic but ubiquitous "Barbershop" scent. Though I don't have a ton of familiarity with this genre, I do have a pretty sophisticated nose.

As you may or may not be aware of, scents from P.A.A. may fall into a genre here or there but when you smell them they're never ordinary or simple. There's always a little something different there. A little extra flare if I may. Try more than a few of their scents and you'll know what I'm talking about. This quality or style is something I always look forward to when the opportunity arrises to try something new (to me) of theirs. Identifying those little extra bits is almost like being excited to open a gift you have no idea of what it is. It's just a surprise and the excitement that goes along with that feeling is fun to say the least.

I paired up the Eddison Super Stainless blade (day 2) with my Tatara Masamune Ti razor. This combo of quality blade with highly engineered titanium razor was a wise choice. I did a three-pass shave with some against the grain buffing and am enjoying a BBS face.

The White Knight whipped up the dollop of CaD no sweat in my beautiful Bluff Cove Pottery bowl, helped in no small part by its embossed spiral at the bottom. The lather smelled really good and protected me perfectly.

I put on the usually post shave products including alum, witch hazel and the ever so fantastic Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream. For today's aftershave though I went with P.A.A's Speakeasy. Again, the finesse and class show in the overall compilation. It's listed as being built of rose, sage, bergamot, citrus, wood and amber. I wouldn't argue about any of that as I do pick up each note. In my opinion it's a pretty equal blend of them all.

So that's it for today's shave fellas. Another BBS in the books.

Rock on gentlemen and enjoy your shaves!
