Hello all! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Thought a nice fougere shave would be good for today since everything's budding out and starting to grow. Decided to go with West Coast Shaving and their "Fougere" soap / splash set from their house line. Nice spicy, green scent a good lather built with the WWBW "Canyon" ST brush. Two passes and I finished with the matching splash and a thorough dousing of Penhaligon's "English Fern" EdT.

Hope you have a great day. Smile

Gave the Yaqi Bohemia a run for the first time this morning. Visually I love the looks of the razor, functionally... Meh. It does what it's designed to do.

Overall weight of the razor is 4.65oz with the head alone being 2 of those. In hand the head just makes it feel bulky and top heavy. I keep a mustache and goatee year round so cannot speak for ease of shaving the top lip and under the nose but I feel the head size may not make it as easy as some razors. Again that is just my opinion and I may be wrong. My wife has threatened I will sleep on the couch if I find out and I don't feel like calling her bluff lol.

The open comb reminds me of the grill off a 1950s Buick and could be part of what I like about it. Unfortunately the design causes it to quickly pack with lather and whiskers decreasing the efficiency and only allowing short to medium passes due to no place for it to go. I found I had to rinse the head 2 to 3 times more than I normally would and only skipped 1 day of shaving so minimal stubble. It did rinse easily enough.

It is adjustable with the flip of the plate so I did one side of my face with one blade gap and the other side with the other. I found the mild to be too mild for my liking and finished off with the wider gap which felt more mid to just under mid aggressive. I do love the look and feel of the handle and if sold separately would probably pick one up.

Overall it's a beautiful piece that's well made and provided a nice shave with zero irritation or blood. I enjoyed getting the chance to try it but do not think it's one I will be pursuing. Thanks all and have a great week!

Funny how YMMV. I recently bought a Bohemia and have been using it for a couple weeks. I happened to like the way it glides through the lather and it was really hard to have it clogged. Even mentioned it here IIRC.

I only rinse 2-3 times per pass. Since the top cap is thin, even if the head is big I don’t find it hard to work with it under the nose or around the lip.

1 side is sort of mild, 2 side is mid-aggressive imo. My biggest problem with the razor is that I found it picky with angles, probably due to low blade angle plus big open comb design - the “radiator” of your 50s Buick.

It is beautiful and well built. It would be better with a smaller grill and a stiffer angle IMO, but that probably wouldn’t look so cool (and would look exactly like the french Bohin).

I like for the price I got it after discounts and cupom (~55usd shipped to Brazil) but it isn’t my favorite razor. Well, maybe to look at, but that’s it.

I agree I ended up with a good shave and it is a beautiful razor but unfortunately didn't have the same overall experience. I agree on YMMV and though this one didn't do for me like I had hoped, the Sputnik wowed me with 1st pass when I thought I would hate it. Guess that's one of the quirks with this hobby lol.
