I decided to try again to master the OCMM, with disastrous results. I only made one partial pass and my cheeks were bloody and burnt. I didn't even try on my neck.  This was my twelfth and last try with this beastly razor. I'm leaving well enough alone and sticking with DE razors from now on.  I did one more pass with my Futur and called it off. I had to use a styptic pencil for several minutes to stop the bleeding. I went with B&M Classic Splash to settle my face down, but it's still very sore an hour later. Live and learn.

I have had similar results and believe it is not so much a razor as an instrument of torture (and, yes, I know there are some of you who get along just fine with this Hydra).  Once this nightmare subsides, I urge you to give the GEM Featherweight a chance.  I had no interest in using a modern GEM SE razor after my experience with the OCMM.  However, I kept reading how mild the Featherweight was but still gave a great shave and my interest was piqued.  For my birthday, 1morepasswill sent me the British Ever-Ready version of the GEM Featherweight.  They are basically the same razor, down to their identical look.  What an eye opener!  The shave I get from this is so very mild, bloodless, and irritation free.  This morning I paired it with a seventh use GEM PTFE blade and still got a BBS shave.  This has gone right to the top of my favorite SE razors and one of my favorites overall be it SE, DE, or Injector.  I don't believe they are too expensive on eBay and, in my opinion, are worth it for one more attempt at just how good an SE shave can be.

All the best for quick healing and better shaves, no matter the razor. Happy2

Paul I hope you heal up quickly and that the rest of your day goes better. I know I've had similar shaves.

That sounds terrible- good luck with the healing and hang that bear trap up for a while prior to trying to tame it again!

Thanks guys! I may not shave tomorrow to let my face heal.

Thanks for the tip, Freddy! I might try a different SE someday, but not for a while. I need to forget this bloodletting. Smile

Paul, sorry to hear about the shave. Unrefined shea butter would help your irritated skin, greatly. Good luck. Shy
