RAZOR * GEM Micromatic Open Comb. Smooth and close.
BLADE * Gem Stainless - Third shave - 3 passes, Touch up, BBS.
SOAP * The Blades Grim, Smolder. Now that is a terrific scent.
BRUSH * Frank Shave Finest Badger, Custom. Just right for an old arthritic.
BOWL * Michal Yoresh Electric. So nice and warm on this cold wintry day.
LOTION * Old Spice Classic Powerful punch. Hot stuff for a frigid day.
SHAVER * Who could ask for anything more?

I have skipped shaving two days in a row. This is quite rare for me. I have a couple of days off work and got too busy with other things to have a proper shave. I considered using a brushless shave soap, but opted out. There is also something great about shaving a few day's growth.

I find it "overhyped"  compared to other quality boar brushes (e.g. Semogue). The handle, however, is quite nice!

I am really enjoying the Thater boar.  The brush continues to improve with each use.  I can't compare it to a Semoge as I have never used one.  I find it easier to break in than my Omega brushes and more dense than my Zenith boar brushes.  I am satisfied with my purchase and the price paid.

To be fair, I think any boar brush needs to be well broken in before judgment is passed. The difference between a new boar and a broken in one is night and day.

In the end I always sold them because I did not find them as comfortable as a fine badger on the face. Probably, I also did not have the patience to break them in over a six months period. Having said that, other than the handle, which is indeed a huge step-up, I don't see a huge difference vs a quality Semogue regarding the bristles. I have used the Thäter Boar twice on my face and since then do palm lathers every two days to help break it in. So I am aiming to hang in there and then give a more thorough review after 30 dry-wet cycles or so.

Thanks, Georg.

I am similar to you in that I find badger brushes, especially, 2-Band ones, have a nicer feel and presence on the face than boar brushes.
Boar brushes are extremely practical, economical, and wonderful to use, but the splay in everyone I have used and the small knots don't compare to my large 2-Band badger brushes. Shy
