A REAL SHOCKER SHAVE TODAY
I have been going around and around about an adjustable razor. Several members of this forum and others all recommended the Progress razor to me. I was skeptical that such an inexpensive razor would give me a great shave, but I listened to them and bought the short handled version. Today was my first shave with it using the 7 O'Clock black blade and the 1955 soap and a/s/balm. From the very first strokes I was shocked. The Razor/Blade combo gave me a smooth, comfortable and, YES, very efficient shave. I started on level 2, ego be damned, and went up to 3.5 for buffing. It was a 3 pass shave with minimal buffing. My face was irritation free and no blood. The real test came with the Alum Block. I always have some degree of feedback, normally because I try to hard to get a BBS. But this time I had ZERO feedback, ZERO. I couldn't believe it. What a great shave with a great, inexpensive razor. If there is a drawback for me, it was only the size of the handle. I got the short version. I will try a few more times and see if I can live with it, if not, the larger one will be purchased.
Will it replace my Athena or Ares? NO, But it will replace my Rockwell T2SS, if it keeps giving me comparable shaves.
NOW THE CAVEAT. This was my first shave with this razor, so who knows what subsequent shaves will be like, but, damn this was a great shave. Of course, I felt the same way about the Osprey, until I didn't. So there is that.....
