Just tried the Haircut & Shave N075 with Al Hardcote Baseplate - SPECTACULAR!  Bargain basement priced yet high quality Wolfman WR2 0,95 fighter - if one prefers a mild yet efficient shaver without a lot of tactile feedback, this is a great way to save a few hundred dollars compared to the Wolfman WR2 0,95 and 1,05.  The craftsmanship is quite good, especially at under $200 and the new finish a nice contrast to the super polished P076 17-4.  For those with the SS plate, you simply must explore the Al hardcote plate which will be available separately for $60.  All, including those already owning the full SS version, are invited to participate.  Step right up and try this sexy hybrid!  PM directly to sign up.

For those with the N075SS version, we are conducting a separate Al baseplate only passaround - PM directly to sign up.

Cutting Edge is supplying soap in this H&S passaround and requiring trailers to scoop out what they need without puck loading.  Cutting Edge is a new artisan run by dfoulk of soap passaround fame

Want to take 2 more shaves before posting a separate detailed review in a passaround thread

Hmmm, I might just buy the Al baseplate blind. I've loved my all-SS N075; the new plate would just be a small way to support H&SCo. and give me a different look to use occasionally.

Aji a genius.  Came into the trial skeptical of hybrid metal razors but convinced now.

is the AL baseplate the same as the first mixed metal razor H&S put out? Wasn't one of the criticisms that it was overpriced @ $190?  If so, $60 for an AL baseplate still appears high.

It is the same Al Hardcote baseplate as the original release.

Regarding pricing, have extensive experience in pricing at a Fortune 50 level and not using a bogus IT tool.  There are simply 2 ways to set initial product pricing: cost based and market driven, within those 2 generic frameworks are scales of strategic and tactical response decisions that determine how well firms have selected intellectual horsepower through their recruitment efforts.

Specifically, regarding H&S cost structure, while having never seen their cost data, have been told they utilize US machine shops of high calibre. This claim is believable having witnessed the quality of the output from every angle and relying on experience gained from motorsports of what comprises quality output from small batch production.  Concerning the market driven aspect of pricing, one needs compare the product against its most similar competitors. In that regard, having tried numerous razors, there are only 2 changeable blade options encountered to date even remotely mimicking the performance of this product in delivering an acceptably close shave with minimal blade feel and zero irritation: Wolfman WR2 in 0,95-1,05 and OneBlade full metal razor which yields a decidedly less efficient shave and requires outrageously priced blades.  Both of the alternatives are priced multiples higher than this razor. I love James duFour and own 4 of his razors BUT not everybody can or is willing to pay $600+ for a razor and wait for many months.

I can not determine if a world class manufactured razor is right for you. Nor can I determine if a brainless razor delivering close shaves without irritation is the right choice for an individual: there are reasonable people wanting feedback and precision in razors - here too Wolfman and H&S have alternatives delivering to world class levels : WR1 and P076 17-4.  However to argue H&S is gouging is misplaced in my experience and opinion.

I tested the N075 Al Hardcote with as much skepticism as possible, as much to be polite given the wonderful P076 17-4 which suits my preference as anything else. By the middle of the first shave, I was raving how great this razor was and marveling how H&S accomplished it at such a low price. I will not go so far as to state the build quality of the N075 as high as the WR2 but it at least as high as OneBlade and any other high end razor short of Wolfman currently in production - further it is a steal and readily available.

Pardon the lack of eloquent rebuttal, rhetoric and critique but your enquiry deserved a straight talking approach delivered without the formalities that can dilute an adult conversation
