Today I chose another Wholly Kaw (got to be careful not to spell Wooly Kaw as that is a totally different experience). And chose Fougere Bouquet.  I like fougeres but there is an off-the-shelf scent that several makers use that has a piquant note I do not enjoy.  This one is a rounder accord more like a Brut.  It's a lovely aromatic that I can shoulder into.  The lather is adequate like ALL my other soaps but the post shave may be the best ever in my granitic Idaho water.  When my Birthday approaches I will remind all you brethren so you don't have to ponder about what to get me.

Fougere Bouquet is one of the soaps/splashes I really, really like, but don't use enough.

I used Beehive Soaps Bay Rum which smelled remarkably like sandalwood.  This soap is not particularly thirsty but it produced a stable and slick lather.  Fluffy like its steric first ingredient.  I have never heard of them before but the lather is perfectly satisfactory.

So I have had this box way too long.  So long I'm feeling guilty. Andrew comes back from vacation soon and I suppose he will get the box next but then he doesn't have anyone to send it to.  I know a lot of you have your favorites and routines down and that is great.  Shoot, heaven knows I'm ready to get back to my normal gear.  That said, I would not have wanted to miss out on this for the world.  You can go to Maggards or West Coast, or Pastuers and sniff your nose inside out and not have the opportunity to sample the wares of 17 makers offering 103 choices.  This isn't like just going to the zoo, this is like touring the zoo with the head zookeeper as guide.  So you newer member, this is an opportunity to try soaps from many of the spaces big hitters AND new and up-comers without having to spend for a tub or to shell out 2.50 per sample.  Read the thread.  Rules are simple.  Paste your name on the list. And get this box.  Guys have been careful to take samples with clean utensils.  I use disposable wooden coffee stir sticks.  I think post number 53 is where Dfoulk posted all the rules.  Give them a read and get on the list.

Today I chose Smooth Operator Smoked Wood.  Wonderful scent but it faded quickly to just "soapy".  Lathers easy and is not too thirsty.  High structure and slick.  Cushion a tad lacking but not bad.  Post was tight.  Had to run for the Black Tie Razor Co. Balm to sooth my tight cheeks.  I tried to look up info on this maker and found very little.  Out of Greece I think and I didn't find soaps readily available.  Nice to try though.

Every time I look at that one at first glance I read "Smoked Weed".
I'm not sure what that says about me?

I don't do any illegal drugs, honest.

Thanks Celestino.  Best part is I made the blank.  My son lathed and polished it for me and I stuffed the Silvertip into it.

This morning was Siliskis Santas Pipe.  I enjoyed the scent a bunch but it was too light.  I did get the Christmas vibe and I'm aware that scent off a small sample can be different than off the puck.  Lather came easy.  Slick and protective.  I was impressed with this soap.
