C’mon guys, now I have to buy a Plisson, too?

I enjoy a bit of variety, but it’s true that the trend as of late in synthetics has been to increase backbone. There are those manufacturers who do actually add density to their knots (by stuffing more fibers into them), but the easier and cheaper way is to either play with the loft or utilize a glue bump.

Having never tried a real Plisson, there are still some knots on the market that I believe mimic its properties. RazoRock has the Plissoft, which I understand is similar. Stirling has a few synthetics that aren’t as big as the Kong, but I’m not sure if the knot is the same kind. I just got my first BOSS knot, and am really enjoying it. Very soft, some backbone, yet easy to splay.

I’m in this camp as well, and I noticed Plisson has a new synthetic knot as well, called “Evolution”: http://blaireauxplisson.com/en/39-shavingbrushes-fiber

I saw one person on the forums has one and would like to hear how they compare to these other new knots.

Is the Cashmere anything like a Muhle stf v2? Also, some of the pics make the Cashmere look white and tinted yellow/brown in others - is that just lighting or is there color variation @"AndrewPalombo"

Cashmere is not like Muhle Stf v2. It is softer, less stiff.

Thanks. Less stiff, wow. They must have very little "backbone". The SilkSmoke with butterscotch handle looks great, and is calling my name.

I can also confirm what iamsms said, just based on the loose Cashmere knot I have; it’s clearly softer than the Mühle STF knot, which so far is still unique among all the synthetics I’ve tried (and my favorite).

On the color — I’ve been wondering about that, too. It may be mostly the lighting. Mine is a very light color, but there is the slightest bit of yellow tint there. If there’s any overexposure of the photo, it’ll look almost white. Underexposed (or in certain indoor lighting), I can imagine it turning a bit yellow.

However, I would also be interested in hearing from Andrew if he has seen any variation in his stock.

They don't have significant backbone. I thought I would hate that but I really enjoy them.

I know face feel is a very YMMV thing, so can't comment whether one would like it or not. But for the last year or so, I have lathered all kinds of soaps with my Cashemere (MWF, Cade, Trumper, Mystic Water, DR Harris, Cella, Nuavia) without any issue.

Thanks for he heads up Watson for the Plisson evolution synthetic. I own a few of their original Plisson synthetic brushes and they are very good!
I also have the Razorock Plissoft brush which is equally as good for me and much cheaper too!

I haven’t tried the New Plisson evolution synthetic although from the pictures it does look similar to Muhle V2 silvertip synthetic fibre knot that I also have. I could be wrong though and if anyone who has this new Plisson evolution could confirm this I would be very intrested to know.

The Cashmere knot to me is much softer than the Plisson type fibre and the tuxedo knot.

I have yet to try the Silksmoke synthetic knot. But looks intesting! Synthetics brushes have come a long way IMO over the past 3 years.

For those of you who like less backbone, it's all about the loft. I set mine as tall as I can without the base showing, and they are all similar in feel to my Plisson. I would say the Maggard 22mm is probably the absolute closest.

Your right I first thought the cashmere/Angel brush from Milton at Turn n Shave was too tall but the softness/height combo really shines in use.
