But that doesn't tell me what I really want to know. How does it rate against ALL other soaps. Are you saying that these price levels are in a class by themselves or are you saying there are much cheaper soaps that holistically are better.

In other words, forget about money. Rank them ALL based on a technical performance/scent profile and let the money sort it self out?

The best alternative for those who don't want to pay for Nuàvia is the Glissant base from Barrister & Mann. With B&M you get quality scents like Nuàvia, but the tallow and lanolin lovers, especially those with dry skin, will get a bit more conditioning properties.

If you have the means, then add this soap to your shaving arsenal. We are all here on the forums to really enjoy our shave time and Nuàvia can give you another level of enjoyment. I did balk at the price but I was able to sell off several other soaps to fund this purchase. I simplified my den while also increasing the quality of it at the same time. This might not be something I see new traditional shaving converts dropping the coin on. However, once you've accepted the hobby aspect, then it is really only a matter of time before you should try this exemplary example of shaving indulgence.

I particularly agree with these points from Brian. Nuàvia is something special, even among other luxury shave soaps and creams. It's quite a compliment to Barrister_N_Mann that the new Glissant base is in the same ballpark for a much more approachable price.

Great question. If I compared it to a Barrister & Mann Soap for example, I could not justify the price. The only way I can justify it is by comparing it to other soaps in the luxury price range. It's great but I'd say it's only marginally better than the top level artisan soaps that are considerably cheaper. That said, you're getting excellent packaging and a rich and unique scent, so you have to take that into consideration. It's an absolute winner if you take cost out of the equation. If you start comparing it to other top level artisan soaps that are $20 and below and you consider cost, it's not a winner for me.

Excellent quality product, just too expensive for me personally. $80 soap? No. $50-60? Yes, I think that would be reasonable.

Ah ok, if I rated it against the best of the best I'd say it's in that top 4 in terms of performance. Better than XPEC all around, better than MDC in post and IMO not quite as good as ADP. I could swap it with MDC if not for the post. So it's in that 2-3 spot I would said. It really is an excellent soap so long as you like spicy scents. Top shelf material for certain IMO.

Just to clarify, when I said I could swap it with MDC I mean it has the advantage over MDC on post but I prefer the scents of the MDC soaps. So on performance it slightly edges them out IMO.

Excellent video on Nuavia TSE! This is one of my favorite soaps. The price is quite high, but for me the performance justifies the cost. More use with Nuavia has only cemented that opinion.

Is $61.75 not reasonable?

Does $61.75 include shipping to the US?

I jumped on the original $43 price for some crocs at Pasteur's. That is fair.
$61.75 is too steep. I get a better post shave from Mike's.
