The scent is so nice and robust, I don't even use aftershave. Post shave is outstanding.

SV shouldn't even be in the conversation when comparing Nuàvia to others, but then I wouldn't even pay a buck for SV. Completely overrated IME.

MdC yes, and Nuàvia is both a better scent (to me) and undoubtedly has better post-shave skincare.

AdP I can't really compare to as I can't use that soap regularly. There is something in it that gives me irritation with repeated use.

Xpec I've never experienced so can't comment on that one.

Santa Maria Novella v3 I do think is a pretty good performance comparison. I do prefer the scents on both Nuàvias, but I will always have a soft spot for a quality soap with eucalyptus globulis oil.

The best alternative for those who don't want to pay for Nuàvia is the Glissant base from Barrister & Mann. With B&M you get quality scents like Nuàvia, but the tallow and lanolin lovers, especially those with dry skin, will get a bit more conditioning properties.

If you have the means, then add this soap to your shaving arsenal. We are all here on the forums to really enjoy our shave time and Nuàvia can give you another level of enjoyment. I did balk at the price but I was able to sell off several other soaps to fund this purchase. I simplified my den while also increasing the quality of it at the same time. This might not be something I see new traditional shaving converts dropping the coin on. However, once you've accepted the hobby aspect, then it is really only a matter of time before you should try this exemplary example of shaving indulgence.

It's a good soap at the original $43 price on the shelf on 34th Street at Pasteur's for the whole package. Nothing more.
It reminds me of Martin de Candre with better post shave.
I think the the soap base, lather and post shave of Mike's Natural, another long-time artisan, is superior.
Nice product but overhyped.

I think $50-$60 shipped would be a fair price. At the $81 it currently takes to get it from Italy to the U.S., it's just too expensive for me. It is good in every regard except price. To put it in perspective, you can almost get both MDC soaps shipped to your door from France for the same price as this one. When I look at it that way it's priced at a level that I'm not super comfortable with. If you're on a budget this is an absolute no go. If money and value is no object then go ahead and pull the trigger on it.

You can also get them in that price range when you order both & combine shipping. Mine came out to approximately $61.75 each when ordered together.

I bought my duo before the price hike and the initial release. With shipping, if I recall correctly, it didn't exceed $100.00 for both.

Thanks celestino. I'm mainly a ManUnited fan but I'm really enjoying the show that Leicester is putting on this season. Mahrez has really been impressive & Vardy's scoring streak is historic.

That's certainly reasonable.
