So I should have waited before purchasing a Calyx? SmileSmile I am enjoying the Calyx knot (and the feel of the handle). It is truly unique among any brushes I have used. I'll be keeping mine Smile

No, sorry! What I meant to imply was maybe I should have thought about bulb vs fan for the Nimbus. My Calyx fan is a keeper, for sure!

The bulb splays about the same as the fan, I’ve owned both and can’t tell the difference when I shave.   He also sets the fan a little lower in the handle.

He does have the original bulb which is less dense which I assume it would splay and release lather differently.

I hope that at least calms any buyers remorse on the standard bulb.

Hi Eric,

I hope all is well in Maine!   Definitely i am sure of it and have had conversations with Janik about it via Email.  He is a great guy if you want to ask about the original bulb vs fan he will definitely get back to you.

I am big on bulbs, I have about 70% bulb or hybrid knots.  Here I swear I can’t tell the difference.

Feel better!

Hey Eric: Ditto Dave. I hope you get to 100%.

If it is not too far off the radar, how would you compare the Titanium and Independant to your two Wald brushes?

Thanks for the well wishes, Mike.

Since I am easily influenced  Big Grin I used the Nimbus this morning. It remains in a different level. Is it the only brush I'll use? No, not yet! But I really like the Wald brushes. More to your question, I think the Titanium gets closest, but still is a long ways off. The A1 knot Jannik makes is really in a class by itself.

I do find the UHD Independent (which I believe is the same knot as the Simpson Sovereign) is very close to the Muhle STF that I have.

My final point: I have some great synthetics to use and I am enjoying them all!

Thanks Eric.  That's good to know about the Titanium and Independent.  And FWIW, I share your view that the A1 is in a class by itself.

A new badger in a restored handle by Freddie. This is the APSCo 22mm SHD 2 band badger. It did very well!
