Adventures with power tools

After a practice run on a piece of scrap wood, I tried the rotary tool with a sandpaper drum on the Klenzo. I took down a "lip" that curled inward, but the TGN knot still would not go all the way down into the socket. And widening the socket seemed like a bad idea, as I think I'd ruin the look from original to too big. The TGN knot has a "waist" or love handle! These two pics try to show that.




Both the TGN knot and the Shave Forge are 20mm and the bases line perfectly. But that bump or waistline shown above prevents the TGN from seating properly in the socket. So I ordered another 20mm, but this time from Maggard Razors, another SHD badger. I figured it would be closer to the HMW from TGN, thickness. I wasn't disappointed!

And after 10 minutes soaking in tap water, then shook out and gently "fluffed" against a dry towel


And this morning it got its maiden voyage across my face! I just love it!

Of course, now I have 2 extra silver tip badger knots, 20mm. And I have enough (5) new to me vintage restores from Freddiep318ti that i don't think I need to add more! So these will most likely head to the BST soon.

Eric, are you serious that you own only two power tools? Think of the possibilities?! I come up with projects purely to justify the acquisition of a new power tool.  The sequence usually follows a pattern. See tool. Think about tool. Decide I need tool. Think up project that would benefit from aforementioned tool. Acquire tool. Do project (usually). Repeat    They don’t even have to be power tools although a power tool is the ultimate human flex!! (Take that chimpanzees.) I also have an unusual attraction to hammers. The original blunt object! So many variables to ensure the right striking implement for the job. Hammer time.

Success!!

A milestone shave is approaching. Well, it could be argued that each shave is a "milestone" for me, as the number of consecutive shaves keeps increasing. However, some numbers seem to have importance attached to them, and 500 is such a number. Tomorrow will be my 500th consecutive shave! What happens if I can't shave? Apocalypse, I am sure! Just kidding. But it does seem to be important to me. I am undecided to just shave as normal, or use the first soap I ever used, MWS Sensitive Skin. Stay tuned, I'll most likely mention it tomorrow!

But I also plan to use a shavette tomorrow for the WTG pass. I have never used one before, but I have dabbled with a SR that Ken Fluffy provided me. I think I want to try the "training wheel" guarded blades for the first go. 

Today's set up was the first use of my second boar brush for DecemBoar 2022, the Supernova with a mixed knot.
