bgolfo and Neko Have nailed it on the head. These are high priced non-essential toys called razors. In the scheme of things neither the razor nor the computer/smart phone you are using means anything right now with the global health and economic carnage going on !

We may have jokingly referred to certain individuals as "Enablers" due to their thorough reviews and details opinions but in no way are they "shave gurus" with an expertise above anyone else. As far as I know there is no professional certification for a wet shaver except maybe licenses for barbers/salon workers (some of you may have these). Sarcastic name calling, and that's what it is, just reflects poorly on the person calling out these fine gentlemen.

Eric did not design the Janus by committee but took opinions of experienced shavers as in all of us who voiced them to him over the 2 years of development. He clearly stated that he made the decisions and stands by his product refunding any who asks (just like other artisans offer a 30 day return).

So the proper thing would be to : 1. stop the accusations and negative suggestions 2. thank and respect Eric for his transparency 3. be an adult - heck my kids figured this out by Kindergarten

It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...
Northeast, USA
I see no purpose or anything that can come out of this war or words & finger pointing. We're grown men and the last time I checked, no one was forced or coerced into purchasing the Janus Toggle.

At the end of the day Janus Razors stepped up, acknowledged and accepted full responsibility for what has transpired with the Janus Toggle. As a couple of members have stated previously, he took it on the chin and without so much as a whimper he offered FULL REFUNDS to those that asked. CLASS ACT if you want to know what I think. He could have said F*** You and deal with it, like a few that we have seen in this hobby do in the past.To me once he faced the music and offered an out, discussion is over. End Game, Gents. Eric offered a choice and all one has to say is yes or no. Period.

Now that we got that shit out of the way, can we continue to talk about the razor for those that have chosen to keep it? Shall we? Thank you.....

Second shave was had last night and I went with a Gillette Platinum and started on setting #3. A much better experience with better smoothness yet very nice blade feel that was not intimidating at all. Almost like a Charcoal Goods L2 razor. Performed a 2.5 pass shave that left little doubt & full on BBS all around with not a single nic, weeper nor irritation. In its lower settings the harshness of blade feel is nearly gone and blade deflection was non existent. No skipping of the razor in any of the passes. Nice.

I'm going to keep mine as I still believe it's a wonderful creation. Maybe didn't live up to the hype but, it shaves well so far in the lower ranges and that's good enough for me. I'll keep trying the higher ranges in slight increments, 1/2 size adjustments and see where it loses smoothness over aggressiveness in shaves to follow.

One last thing, this is a hobby that we enjoy with mostly decent Gents. There is no need to crap on one another when most who have commented in this thread are class acts. There's no need for it.

Happy Shaves....

Hey Loot-
Thank you for your comment and I believe this forum is for people to come together with our similar commonality of a love for wet shaving and not to start bickering arguments and to point fingers. I do think you have a point and people can have their opinions and they do not have to agree with mine. Actually, 90%+ of the time my opinion does not agree with the majority on this forum. For example, I firmly believe that wolfman does not make the best razor and Im pretty sure you hold a different opinion on that topic, but that topic is not for this thread...
You hit the nail on the head that people are not immune from being offended and people should take what they want and to leave the rest. That comment you make actually makes me think about one of my favorite psychotherapist Frederick Perls ,the father of Gestalt Therapy. All in all, this theory and therapy type is about individuals are responsible to find their own way in life and they are need to take personal responsibility in their life...meaning the focus is on the now and not the past, the future is not here and the past is gone and we need to effectively deal with life in the here and now. Therefore, you are right!... take what you want and leave the rest and do not harp and dwell on the past or issues that you have no control over. I all the time read and take what I want and leave the rest, but I will post every once in a while and especially when I see a topic that is getting derailed...can we get this train back on track here?

I feel that negative feedback is more important than a positive one. It makes the companies getting better, larger and offering better performing products. It can also save money to the potential customers. I know for a fact that I've saved a lot of money listening to the precious feedback of forum members and reviewers.

If a company gets only a positive feedback and no compaints, then they have to question themselves. It's not a good thing in the business world.

Agreed. Eric has enough smoke blown up his butt by a lot of people. If you go back and read the beginning of the thread, you'll see how honest questions were treated...and those asking them. But now we are being told we all just need to bold hands around the campfire. Quite comical.

This is very comical indeed... You left out the part when we all sing “kumbaya” as well... that is a very important part of the process

GlazedBoker Hey Gus nice review but can you please clarify and I am sorry if I missed it on an earlier post. Can the Janus adjuster move in 1/2 increments as I thought it was single digits like a Toggle/FB and not an infinatetly adjustable gap like in the Futur ??
