Now that I think about that sending it anywhere involves some risk that it might get lost in shipping.  One drop of Testors red enamel on a fine tip paint brush will work fine.  I've used it to refresh other razor red dots and also to renew markings on firearms.  It is good stuff.  If the color when dry is a bit off from the other dot just paint them both.

By the way I have been bringing out the Janus LE regularly. I tested a Fatip Originale Grande slant which is now on a pass around tour and it feels about the same. The LE has the same blade feel as a vintage Gillette such as the Tuckaway. When I can put the comfort and efficiency of the Janus prototype out of my head I appreciate the LE more. Can't stop loving the prototype though and it still casts a shadow on the LE.

Cannot say I get the Janus out regularly but the revival of this thread did prompt me to use it this morning. I never got to try the prototype and thought it shaved fine when I first received it despite all the comments at the time that it did not meet (possibly overhyped?) expectations. This mornings shave reconfirmed my original thought that it is a unique modern razor with perfectly acceptable, if not outstanding, performance across the entire range of gaps. For me it shaves better than a vintage slim and an lot of other recent three piece razors from popular artisans. Many of the original buyers complained about the over promise and under deliver regarding fit and finish but I still believe that a 50 piece run of such a complicated piece of bespoke engineering and machining could be accomplished for the selling price to be pretty amazing. I am still impressed by what Eric accomplished and for me, the juice was worth the squeeze.

I thought Eric had promised to take care of/adjust those razors. I would contact him and send it in for service. If I recall correctly, he said he wanted to see some of them back after being in use for a bit.

Send it the RE? C'mon...why in the heck would you do that just for a spec of paint? Much less a $500 razor the manufacturer agreed to service. Seems a bit silly but maybe I'm missing something here. Did Eric pack up his stuff and run off?

Eric said he would service those razors and with the amount of QC issues they had leaving his office, he should. Take advantage of his offer.

The bad part of my plan is if you are overseas. Then it becomes expensive and terribly time consuming. At that point, I'd take some nail polish remover to it and get rid of all the red. The one I had was pretty sloppily done anyway. No red would be an upgrade.

Good luck with resolution and do let us know if your friend reaches out to Eric.

Glad some of you guys were satisfied with your purchases and the shave.

Sending it to the manufacturer for warranty is what I would do with a $500 Razor

I would LOVE to see some Janus Razors in the SOTD.  I see those stunning Vintage Gillette Toggles and Murat’s Works of Art

Owner tried several times to contact him (email and instagram), no answer whatsoever  Confused
Thanks for the paint tips everyone, probably going to try that.

While I could pretend to be surprised, sadly, I am not.

This razor has to be one if the worst handled shaving projects in years. From beginning to end, it has been unfortunate to watch. Glad I got out when I did. The Sailor i bought with the funds is a superior product on every level.

I read this literally a minute ago.  Curious so I texted Eric to let him know about the customer needing assistance who could not get in touch with him via email and he replied in seconds.  He said he is far behind replying to emails and is looking for a partner to handle inquiries.  We are texting back and forth as I type, now he says please post his number so he can talk to owners directly.  He also reminded me that he included a note with his direct phone number with every LE he shipped out to us.  I got the note in my box.  I didn't want to post it but he asked me to so here it is:  651-285-1198.

By the way I agree with LOOT about a lot of negatives re. the final product but I think the project was a success up to and including the prototype sent out for testing.  The last minute changes affected the shave and that yielded bad reviews since the prototype shaved like a dream.  Although it is not my favorite, the LE is not a bad razor at all.  I discovered it is a totally different feel with only Shave Secret shaving oil. Surprised me.

It must not be too bad a razor. One just sold for $900+. Looks like the laugh is on me. Shoulda held it a bit and made near double my money in the secondary market. Go figure.

Eric should slowly auction them starting at $500 and get his money back. Maybe fund a little of V2 to boot.

I would pay more than that for one of those prototypes.  I got to try it and now can't stop wanting one.  Spoiled me it did.
