I'm looking forward to the experience as I try to figure out what the OneBlade is. I think it'll be defined by the shaves it provides, in comparison to the razors it was designed to replace or compete with.

Gary, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

So I gave this "more pressure" technique a try this morning and had no trouble, especially on my WTG pass. I kept my neck a bit more slack, which helped. The added pressure didn't work as well ATG on my upper neck, so I think I won't use it there, but it IS interesting to see how well the OneBlade accommodates pressure.

David, I'm glad to hear that the more pressure and slack skin approach helped in spots. It's just another tool to have in your technique arsenal.

Tonight I have (I think) successfully clipped a de-spined GEM PTFE blade. It lies completely flat and gives the "click" when locking in. I was going to see how many shaves I could get out of my most recent blade, but I didn't do a good job clipping it so its life ended after 18 shaves. It was a good blade and I'm sure I have plenty others that I will be able to push the 20 shave envelope and perhaps in time even the 30 shave barrier.

I will report back how my next few shaves go. I'm curious to see if this makes any noticeable difference in the shave characteristics at all. If it does, then my hypothesis is that it won't be quite as smooth of a shave as the extra rigidity from the slight smile could come in play here. More than likely there will be little to no noticeable difference and then it won't really be necessary to do more than remove the spine to enjoy the best OneBlade shaves possible.

Until my first :| GEM shave...

SharpSpine I also want to thank you. Your journal here is one of the reasons I decided to buy a OneBlade in lieu of one of the other high end razors.

Good job.

Good job.

This may turn into the greatest enabler thread in the history of modern wet shaving! Smile Kidding aside, Brian's journal threads across Mongoose and OneBlade are huge contributions to the community as evidenced- thanks again SharpSpine !
