It is one of the two modern takes on the toggle, and both seem to have been very challenging, and questionable as business ventures. So, what is the appeal of the toggle that inspires such investment? What does it do better? What makes it such a grail razor?

The Janus is definitely inspired by the toggle, however the Model T is closer to the Slim. What makes the Toggle a grail razor is the fact that it wasn't in production for very long and there is the cool factor to it. Many say that it wasn't because of performance or reliability.

I hope the Janus is not sold at some ridiculous price like $400 or something like that.

It's going for like $500-600.

A Paradigm or Wolfman are $400, have 3 parts none of which are moving parts. Personal opinion - worth the money.

Janus has some 30+ parts, some are moving parts, etc. Personal opinion - hopefully worth the money.

I think so. If you read through the thread here about it, I believe the price was stated.

That’s way too much for a razor, beautiful or not.
I guess that’s why we buy from China. Yes I know it’s not mass produced. I guess their target audience are not the common everyday joe.

I am grateful for razor emporium where at least we can get an original fatboy or Slim within reach.

The REX is the highest I would pay for a razor.

I’ll wait for the Chinese clone of the toggle. I am sure Weishi or baili will make one.

Why couldn’t Gillette just come out with commemorative edition of their classic raZors.

Ah well lol. One can only dream.

Well, because people actually have to have one in their hand to be able to review it.

Just got the notification email with the tracking info from Rockwell on the Model T razor. Says it should be delivered on April 1st. Doh! It can't be an April Fool's joke, right?

Will post once in my hands...

Quite substantial in the hands with a nice TTO movement while turning to open and close. I’m looking forward to getting in some shaves with it in the next week or 2. A full review to follow.....
