#0868 arrived in Vancouver, tonight, and I had a fantastic head shave and, possibly, the smoothest one, so far with any razor.
I had thought the Game Changer was very smooth for my head shaves, but the Rex is even smoother and more effective. I had it set at 2 and it was about perfect.
I'll experiment with it for my face shaves, probably, this weekend.

The razor is quite beautifully made and I like most everything about it. However, the two-tones of grey are a bit of a contrast to the brighter stainless steel main part of the handle. Above all, the top area of the handle where the numbers are marked is quite a dark shade of grey which makes it a bit more difficult to see the numbers unless you hold it to a proper angle to the light. Nonetheless, there are many more great aspects to this lovely razor.

Tried a Kai blade tonight, but I think I'm going back to the Israeli Personna.  Still, the Rex delivered a nice BBS shave.

Soap:  Declaration Grooming Trismegistus
Brush:  Shavemac 2-band ST 25x52

Razor: Rex Ambassador (4)
Blade: Polsilver SI (3)
Brush: Rick Montalvo mixed
Pre shave: Stirling mentholated
Soap: JoHS Tobacco Bay
Lucky Tiger face tonic
AS: JoHS Tobacco Bay

Shave eleven with the Ambassador. Another great shave.

I have committed myself to thirty consecutive shaves with Rex, trying different settings and various blades along the way.

Have a great night! [Image: fe10e53c59ea990bb05566a440e40003.jpg]

Was it a 1st-use Kai blade? I have found the blade performs much better after the 1st use. I used a 2nd-use Kai for yesterday's shave and it was very smooth and comfortable

Guys, I am fascinated by the various thoughts on the so-called two-tone look of the razor.  Obviously, there is no right or wrong answer to this as it comes down to personal preference.  However, when I received my Rex, I was immediately taken with how beautiful it was and how it looked exactly like the excellent photos of it that Matt posted.  To be honest, when this came up, I took out the Rex and looked carefully.  To my mind, the shine of the knurling on the handle just seems to blend right into the mat finish of the head and it works perfectly.  It reminds me somewhat of a color wheel where one color subtly blends into another.  Again, this all comes down to personal preference.

On another note, tomorrow I shall be finishing up a week’s worth of shaves with my various Artist Club single edge razors and I already have Friday’s razor set up.  It will be a week with some of my DE razors.  I almost always start a new week of DE shaving with my STAR DE.  That simple 3-piece can be counted on to give me a great shave with a new blade.  However, on Friday, I plan on starting off with my Rex and the almost mythical Gillette Swede blade.  I have only used a Swede once before and, for me at least, it lived up to the hype.  I am really curious to see how it performs with the Rex and I didn’t want to give the blade a chance to mellow out for that second shave before using it in the Rex. Winking

Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
Rex Ambassador(4)
Dorco ST-301
Cella of Hagen Street
Stirling Boar(24mm, Friagte Class)
Baxter Of California Shave Tonic and ASB

Premium razor with a budget blade and the combo performed flawlessly! I'm thinking that the REX will work well with any blade I happen to put in it!
