Thanks for the pics and the review. I’d love to see a shot with the blade in it, though. Are the blade end tabs covered (like with the GC) or exposed?

Edit: Just saw that the tracking indicates my Lupo is out for delivery today, so I guess I’ll find out the answer to my question soon enough!

I cleaned up the lupos last night to get them ready for use. They’re pretty well made although in a side by side comparison with the Wolfman WR1 they’re not a match for fit and finish. That’s to be expected because a large part of the cost of the Wolfman is in the hand finishing. And scarcity vs demand. Next is to see if they shave like a Wolfman although i won’t be able to do a proper comparison because the lupo is based on the WR2 and I don’t have one of those. I think it was IB’s goal to make a nice CNC razor that looks and shaves like a Wolfman at an affordable price point and not to make a cheaper replica. I’d be curious to see what an aftermarket polisher like AlanH81  could do with a lupo.

Thanks Marko. I thought Lupo based on on WR1 (not WR2) but others can confirm.

Ok, I was just going by the appearance. The lupo jogs out to cover the blade tabs and the WR1 does not. Pictures I’ve seen of the WR2 appear to cover tabs.

Hi Marko

Well I’ll need to get the Lupo .72 with baseplate and top cap.I do have handle from AQU that I purchased and was kind to sell it to me at decent cost..

For Lupo I would use very fine 2000 3M Grid wet sand lightly and High Polish.

I’m working at the moment on my Charcoal Goods Baseplate to get rid of machine marks under baseplate very tough and lot of patience not mention it’s time consuming.

If I get one plate from razorock I’ll polish and post and also would I need gamechanger plate .68.

Overall Lupo looks fantastic  Happy2

Thanks Ventastic , I  had not seen that write up.  The debate over exposed tabs continues.  Some like it and others don't.  I don't think I'd call it a flaw, however, that's just IB doing his marketing as is the "over-polished" comment.

I've never nicked myself on a blade tab and I get that its easier to pick the blade off the base plate when it adheres to it but I don't really like the feel of it when tightening/loosening the handle.  I've never hurt myself but it seems to be a risk.  On the positive side, it probably prevents anyone from over-tightening the threads because its uncomfortable and one slip and...

Some of the RazoRock designs have the registration posts on the baseplate instead of the more common position on the top cap.  When the blade sticks on those baseplates without exposed tabs you have to be very careful.  I disassemble and rinse the razor after every shave so I develop a process but its still a thing to watch out for.  Is it a flaw? Nope, its the characteristics of the design.  Big Grin

I do wish the tabs stuck out ever so slightly. The new Lupo head is better than the rounded corners, but I like being able to have a feel on the tabs when I undo the head. No biggie.

Just an FYI for anyone in the same boat as me. I have the DLC Lupo and sent a message to IB asking whether the new base plates would fit my razor. The answer that I received says that the base plate does not fit the older razor because the shape and posts are different. So you'll have to buy a new top cap as well as a base plate.
