Using my phone so too small to see clear but might it just be the lighting ?

I see what you’re referring to in the one IB website pic. The top half of the plate looks a little blurry so it’s tough to tell what’s really going on with that safety bar. The reason I responded to your post was because you said you “noticed in several photos, that the .72 baseplate is smooth without scallops”.I was just wondering what other photos you were talking about.

Ventastic....thanks for posting the definitive answer to my question, from the RR SS Lupo description. The picture on their site, plus my quick mis-observation of Dave's close-up picture got me confused. All RR SS Lupo baseplates are scalloped. Hopefully, everyone will post their review of whatever head they purchased, to give us a complete picture of this new product. I plan to give my opinion after a few shaves with different blades and beard length.

If you're paying close attention to the "What soap did you use today" thread, you will see the aluminum Lupo is the only razor I use (99% of the time).

I do have the DLC version, which for me is "okay" (better than most razors for me)... But the DLC has two issues:
1. There is a definite drag (likely caused by the coating)
2. I just don't get as close of a shave the with DLC as I effortlessly do with the Aluminum (... Yes thanks, I know it's counterintuitive... But aren't so many things these days).

So I am VERY HAPPY to see some SS versions, with options for different gaps/aggression. They have read my mind!

I have the .72 and .95 on the way!

I want to get the 72 baseplate, but no caps in stock. Hopefully the baseplates will still be in stock when the caps are back, LMAO.

First shave was great, although I try not to set my mind on something until I get a few shaves in. Soap and splash was FLS Kituwah, which has quickly moved towards the top of my list for soaps. The Lupo looks and feels great. Tolerances are tight, with little to no play between the top cap and baseplate. Loading the blade was easy and alignment was perfect. The super knurl handle feels good and as the name suggests, has great grip. I shaved the right side of my face first with the OC side WTG, then switched to the SB for my XTG pass. Left side was the opposite starting with the SB and ending with the OC. The OC seemed a tad smoother for me, and I can not detect a difference in closeness yet (going on 8 hours). Both sides were close comfortable shaves. Definately blade feel but efficiency equaling the feel, just how I prefer razors. Will grab some pics tomorrow, was in a hurry today!

I shaved with the Lupo .95 yesterday morning same Bic Astor blade - again, still just the neck due to winter beard.  It was very nice.  Obviously more aggressive than the .72 but nothing to worry about.  I did a very nice three pass shave.  Its not quite as aggressive as the Wolfman WR1 in my opinion.  My WR1 has a dual comb and I find the SB side to be more efficient than the OC side but they're both nice.  I'm going to use it this week some time just to make sure that my thoughts on its comparison to the Lupo are accurate.  I'm very impressed with this razor.  I think its some of RazoRock's best work to date.   Happy2
