I usually prefer a more efficient razor ie Timeless .95, Charcoal Goods Level 2 or 3, Karve F plate and have never had a good shave with a Feather DE blade as I usually find it harsh. I used a Feather at the owners recommendation in the mild base and it was extremely smooth and I was able to get a 3 pass BBS. There was very little blade feel and the razor was easy to maneuver. I then used an Astra SP, Feather and finally a Kai in the A plate. The Astra was very smooth but after my normal 3 pass I still needed to do some touch ups. The Feather was just as smooth and gave me a 2 pass BBS needing only to touch up my difficult spot on each side of my Adam’s apple. Tonight I used the Kai blade and with one pass, using  my friend Franks SSSTT ATG and a touch up around my Adam’s apple I was BBS. I am a daily shaver Sun thru Thursday night and I shaved 5 consecutive days with this razor without any irritation. This is an expensive razor but the results are very impressive. I would put this razor right near the top of all my razors and it is the only one, of the ones I own, that I can use a Feather blade in comfortably. [Image: dQZzv7P.jpg]

So the A plate would be close to a Lvl2 then?  That would make sense because you compared the more efficient plate to the L3 and WR!86, IIRC.

I like Feathers in efficient razors and less sharp, smoother blades in very efficient razors as a general rule. Half the fun of having a stable of thoroughbreds if figuring out how they like to be ridden.  Because I use a bunch of different razors I keep a variety of in use blades on the counter. maybe 4-6.

I was under the impression the "A" plate was the more "aggressive" plate. Is that correct and if so does it shave like the lvl2 CG or the lvl 3?
The A plate is the mid aggressive of the two plates the other one is mild the A plate is more like charcoal Goods level 2

The A plate is the more aggressive plate and I would put it in the same category as the level 2 Charcoal or slightly more efficient with a feather blade in it ( The RS10 )

anyone get an RS-18 besides tapetalk? is it worth 50 dollars for the lubricated strips? also how much are they to replace? is there more difference with the rs 18 than just the lube strips?

Who has so little and there is a difference between the RS 18 and the RS10 besides the lubricating strips. The RS has more feedback and for me the strips definitely make the shave more pleasurable and smoother. Right now the rs18 only comes with the mid aggressive plate which for me I like more. If you want a mild plate then the RS10 is the way to go also you could get the mid aggressive plate with the RS10. The mid aggressive plate that comes with the rs18 is still smooth and very efficient and I feel can be used as an everyday shaver. And whether it is important to you or not the RS 18 comes with an incredible presentation box. The RS10 also comes with a beautiful presentation box but it is not near the RS 18.

The presentation is on a whole other level... It blows everything else away in that regard.

I know some have been very curious, so I thought I'd give an initial use review.

To put it simply.... This is the real deal.  I was a little skeptical because the head geometry is similar in appearance to the Blackbird which, for me, was worrisome.  I know the BB has a stellar reputation, but I'm one of the few who just couldn't get along with it.  Luckily, appearance is where the similarity ends.

Using a Personna red on 2 days growth (I have a very thick beard), the first pass absolutely mowed thru things.  I typically use either a first gen Tradere OC or a Wolfman 0.74 SB.  The RS10 exceeded both in efficiency AND smoothness on the first pass.

I expected some harshness or unpleasant blade feel on the 2nd or 3rd passes, but it never came.  It was as smooth at the end as it was at the beginning.

The heft of the razor is in it's sweet spot for me, and the finish is on par with any modern DE.  Again, the presentation is next-level.

I'll throw in a feather blade and report back.  As of now, I think RS is getting ready to take off once the word spreads.

Can anyone compare the RS-10 with mild plate to the Timeless 0.68?

I found the RS10 with a feather blade to be as smooth as the Timeless 68 with an Astra. The sharper blade made it more efficient I would have kept my RS10 but it is on the same level as my Paradigm Ti2 with a feather. Avi was very easy to work with.

Which plate were you using?

I had both plates. The mild unmarked is what I was comparing to the Timeless the mid plate marked with an A I found very similar to my Paradigm or my Charcoal Goods Level 2 with a Polsilver
