Up to yesterday I had mostly used mild razors and had a hard time getting a close shave, recently I went back to my very first purchase a, merkhur futur, and started getting great shaves at level 3-4 ...thing is, I don't really like the futur as I find it slippery and fiddly and as a result have sliced my fingers and thumbs far too often with it. And at best it's a love hate relationship.

So I decided to pick up some more agressive razors, the first arrival was the R41... Shaved with it for the first time this morning and loved it.

I loaded an Astra Blue and spent extra time building my lather with B&M Reserve and then started...on the first pass I immediately felt the blade which I found surprisingly pleasant and the audible feedback was similar to the futur ...I took my time and did 2 passes (Wtg /xtg) with some touchups ..cold water and AS applied with no sting...was it my closest shave ever? No ...was it my best 2 pass shave ever? By far...cheeks are super smooth ..have a bit of stubble in my typical problem area under my right jawline....super happy and looking forward to perfecting my technique with this beauty....so glad I made the plunge. Love the R41. Waited patiently for Muhle to make it in stainless to no avail, so bought into the Blackland Dart, which is just as efficiently aggressive, smoother and better looking.

while I haven't used a dart yet (might pick 1 up sooner or later), that's how I feel with the blackbird sb as well.

the R41 & ikon tech are both very aggressive where you can feel every bit of its aggression compared to the blackbird.

Just curious if someone could compare the R41 to the Game Changer .84 Plate (GC). Which is more aggressive? Is the R41 as smooth as the GC? Is the razor blade held into the R41 as tightly as the GC? I have not used the R41, but most reviews are positive, and there are many folks who swear by it. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I have not used the .84 GC, but did use the .68, and from most impressions, the .84 is a mid-aggressive razor, whereas the R41 is one of the most aggressive razors you'll encounter. For me, the R41 was not smooth, at all, because of the blade exposure, but the only way you'll appease your curiosity is by trying one.
Good luck. Smile
