Question on Karve plates

I’m updated my kit a bit. I’m going with a Karve. I’ve only one other razor. Timeless SB 95. What plate would you suggest is close to a Timless 95?  Maybe a D or E?

I've got E, F, and G. I find myself using E more often than not. I'd suggest get both D & E.

They are a bit tough to compare because they have such different geometry. I’ve had Karve plates from A through E. I sold/traded the A and E  because they were, respectively, too mild and too aggressive. Really I should move the D too. I only use B and C. I also have a .95 stainless and it’s a definite keeper for me. I would say it’s is most akin to the D. The .95 is pretty efficient and has more blade feel than I usually like. But it just works well for me.

I've only used the D & F plates. I would say the D plate has less blade feel and efficiency than the Timeless 95. The F is probably a little more efficient if I remember correctly. My guess is that the E would be pretty similar to the Timeless 95.

Thanks everyone. I figured it was a D or E. incidentally all the brass offerings are in stock at Karve.  Can’t say about the stainless.

Don‘t forget the OC plates. My favourite plates are the D-SB, E-OC and F-OC. In brass you can afford to buy a few. I think you can leave out the C-plate if you like your timeless 0.95, unless you need something less efficient for days when your skin is feeling sensitive.

I have the Karve OC plates in F, both SS & brass. I had gotten the G SB plates and Karve (Chris) says that the OC is the equivalent of one gap higher. 

IOW, an F is the equivalent of a G SB. I was intrigued by that premise and paid the fare to check it out. I don't know if it is the extreme of the F being equivalent to the G, but it may be.

Certainly it seems to me that the OC is more aggressive/efficient than the same gap in SB. This is one of my reasons for going for DCs when they are an option. YMMV. 

I would suggest plate D to be on safe side

I'd like to test A, B and C. I like milder shaves.

If you look at Alan's gap chart, the D plate at .98mm is very close to the Timeless at .95mm. You also have to remember that the Karve D plate has .13mm blade exposure where the Timeless SB has neutral (0) blade exposure and the Timeless OC .95mm gap I think is only .05mm blade exposure. If you go to the Karve E plate with a gap of 1.10mm, the blade exposure jumps to .17mm.

I have the Karve brass plates B-E in both SB & OC. I also have the Timeless SS .95mm SB & OC along with the Ti in .95mm OC. In my experience the Karve SB in C or D would be the way to go leaning toward the D. I think the E plate will feel much more aggressive than the Timeless .95mm SB.
