i have a new pure badger brush that i am breaking in and i keep finding the ends snapped off as I load the brush or build the lather in my bowl. Haven't seen this with my finest and best badger brushes, but this doesn't seem normal? Can anyone confirm? The brush has also dropped 70+ hairs in the first week and has yet to stabilize. How many hairs would you guys allow on a relatively inexpensive brush before you contact the vendor?

That does not sound normal and it would be prudent of you to keep the shafts of hair to photograph so that you can send proof to the vendor and inform them of the situation.
A new brush should not be loosing so many hairs, in my opinion, unless it is a very dense knot such as the Chubby 2 or 3 Supers. If it had lost 10-20 shafts of hair, then I could see that as being reasonable.

Unless you are using too much pressure when you build the lather in your bowl, or soaking it in overly hot water, your brush should not be shedding as much as it is.

Best of luck resolving the situation.

Which brush is it that you got?
Some brushes seem to have more QC issues than others, but like Celestino mentioned that shouldn't be happening with normal use.

That's too much hair to be losing, even when the brush is still new and loose hairs might be working their way out.

The broken off hairs might be tips from where the hairs were clipped to form the shape of the brush. If you look closely at the tips, you should be able to see if most are tapered or still thick where they end which indicates clipping.

Bad brush. See if seller will stand by his product.

I agree with the above posts. This is not normal. Definitely let the seller know and see what they can do for you.

Bunk brush. No brush should lose 70+ hairs ever, especially in only one week. I would be asking for my money back.
