3" for me, but it has to be a decent quality strop, or it may cup when under tension.  One of my razors (from Drew Dick) is long enough to still require the x-stroke, even on the 3".  But just about everything else does not require it.

When it's in my dads hands?  I'll prefer the 1/64" strop please.

How common are 2.75"? Because that's what I want.

The DD blades are looong! Dick is a great guy to deal with and makes a lovely shaver.

Three inch strops as stated before because of elimination of the x stroke. You can still use it with the razor slightly angled and it seems it is better at times.
